SuperDave,

GPO should work well on a 1.5Ghz powerbook. I would recommend over a GB of RAM. I may also recommend something better than the built-in audio card. Many musicians use GPO in live concerts and church services. As far as string instruments we have a good variety of solo stringed instruments (to make quartets and chamber groupings) as well as large sections.

For every complaint, there may well be (and probably is) someone composing a sketch for an orchestral work using GPO (or maybe they're still using their Mirage?)[/QB]

You certainly were fortunate to hear your work played by such and orchestra. Nothing beats working with a real orchestra. I believe that samples will never replace real players and one of the goals of this developer is to lead people to real players.

I also had the oppportunity to work with an orchestra recently during the GPO Orchestration Competition Concert About 200 entrants submitted their GPO renditions and four winners got to have their work performed by a 65 piece orchestra. http://www.garritan.com/competition.html
It was a great experience.

It is good to hear both positive and negative and dialog is healthy. While general negative statements are not useful, constructive criticism (especially those that are specific) is always very helpful because it enables me to make better libraries.

OK, enough of my rambling.

Human taste is varied as you wrote pinky. Very astute observation that if you do not "adversely affect the "taste"of some people, then a product (music, samples, cup cakes) is probably mediocre." That quote is a keeper. Thanks very much for your comments pinky.

PS I still have my Mirage. We've come a long way! :D

SuperDave, GPO has a great patch called all strings. It has the four main sections mapped appropriately on the keyboard. It would be difficult to stretch your hands far enough to get a bass section on the far left pinky, and a violin section on your right pinky, but if you are playing backing string parts like two and three part harmonies, it would be awesome live, especially in church!

I am bumping this topic because I can't believe that this GPO group buy has already reached the lowest price of $139.00, and in only a week!
I use this library all the time and although it isn't the only library I own, it is the only library that does it all for me.

Thanks dubaifox!

You may be interested to know that Nativie Instruments informed me that they will be posting the Kontakt Player updates for improved Tiger and digidesign performance in the next few business days.

-----------------------

About the group buy, as of today, 842 people have taken advantage of the GPO Group Buy making this the highest number of subscriptions of any group buy. And there's still a week left to go!

I wanted to thank all who entered and those who supported this effort and made this the most successful group buy yet. And a special thanks to the people at Unicornation!

PS: I used to frequent this forum, but for a while I couldn't access the site. Was this forum down for a while? It seems busier than ever here.

Yes for a few weeks (months ? can't remember...) unicornation was down because it took some time to find a new server.... After a while we thought it was gone for good, but then from the ashes arose the new phoenix :)

The GPO Group Buy ends tomorrow, June 7th at midnight (US west coast time).

The GPO Group Buy has already brought over 1,000 new users! AFAIK, this is the largest number of people who have participated in a sample library Group Buy.

This may be your last opportunity to get GPO for only $139. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity go to this link:.

https://www.amerifare.com/harps/GPO-GroupBuyForm.htm

We have already begun shipping. We have an overwelming number of orders and are doing our best to get them out as fast as possible.

I would like to thank the Unicornation community and everyone who has participated.
