Considering that I am a (proud) new owner of an Intel Mac, I was somewhat relieved to see that my month-old machine was not going to be relegated to the land of the "outdated."

Still, the iPhone is freak'n sweet. Not to say anything about Apple TV. So many gadgets, so little time.

Interesting observation Jobs made about the iPhone: someone asked why such a new gadget would necessitate less tactile support and more visual support during a time when current or older cell phones and PDAs can be used so easily by the blind touch of one's fingertips.

Jobs' response was that the phone was clearly the weakest part of the iPhone, which I found a little ironic.

But what fascinates me the most is that Apple is ready to put certain technology on the market that shows GREAT promise in the way their computers and monitors could work-- could there be a new sort of controller to come sooner than later that could make using a mouse obsolete?

I'm sure that Apple will sort out the hurdle of typing and dialing numbers on a small touch screen (which will otherwise prove to be a major distraction for those who insist upon driving and yacking concurrently), but some of the things I've seen iPhone do appear to be right out of Star Trek! Amazing.

Oh--

The touch screen is pretty amazing. There is an engineer out of NYU that first developed this technology - he just though that there should be a better way to interact with computers. Sounds reasonable.

I attended the expo with a friend of mine who couldn't stop saying that all he wanted was "his phone." Man was he disappointed when the release date was scheduled for June. Good times.

I can envision keyboards and control surfaces that change with the program your using. They will be like EZKEYBOAD only with a display like iPhone. There is a Wacom monitor that is like their pen pads.
I use an EZKEYBOARD for FCP and I love how fast it makes editing. I also use a Wacom pad and I could not think of using Photoshop or Painter with out it. Some day all our mixers and controllers will be on touch screens and surfaces. Best of all they will be configurable.

Can you buy the seed and plant it in your ear?
Surely Jobs would have wanted to out-do all competition in the "sprouting from the sides of youngsters' heads" department?

Catch 'em young, hold 'em down and get that seed planted early.
Then you can set them free to run amok, and before they know it, all thinking will have been transferred to their "mysterious" growths.
Only, they're not so mysterious, 'cause every youngster's afflicted similarly.

Jobs thinks of everything, right? :?

I"m off to buy some earplugs; no point taking any chances...
