I have a sytek as well and like them very much.....

I do wish they had pads... I was thinking of trying to get the modded on.....

I have to check our those inline pads.... Its hard recording snare with the sytek...

You should own at least one in-line pad. I bought my last A15AS on ebay last week for $9.99!!! You could use it with an SM57 on the snare and be able to use the Sytek.

There is a reason why there is no pad in that circuit. From what I understand it would degrade the sound. Why not email Sytek and see what they say about mod options vs in-line options?

The Sytek always has 12dB of gain going on, which is why there is a mute switch onboard. I wish that all of my preamps had a mute switch. Love it.

An SM57 is exactly what I use and I am usually just under clipping....

I am going to look into one those pads!
