Isn't it possible to pull in additional samples for Drumagog? I thought its main purpose was as an interface and methodology for track replacement? I watched their demo at NAMM but now that's a while back and my memories are fading. And I downloaded the demo but neglected to use it before it expired (I tried to use it two weeks ago as I "needed" it, but it was too late).
My NI battery demo expired before I used it also (I downloaded too many demos at once, hoping to do cross-comparisons, but it all became so time-consuming that I never got around to reviewing the drum-oriented and guitar-oriented software). I've been hearing more great things about Stylus of late and should give that one a shot.
How about Melodyne? Any feedback from people using it as a tool for reshaping the kick drum?
I'm actually planning on trying some experiments over the next few nights using my recently purchased TC Electronic Triple-C compressor, as it has a special Envelope Mode that allows you to actually alter the full envelope rather than just raising or lowering the overall peaks and valleys. It is specifically designed as a creative tool for drums and especially kick drum.
I rarely go for the metal drum sound, and was surprised to learn those guys mostly use samples as I had falsely assumed they might have an attitude about such technology. But I do have a couple of songs I'm mixing at the moment that really call for that big metal kick drum sound, so am following this toopic with interest.
