It's the EMI TG Mastering Bundle for an alleged $300?

And here listed for $275:

http://www.highprofileaudio.com/HOTDEALS-EMI-EQ.html

Now, I thought these plugins were $600+ each?
Yeah... the trouble is that the AU versions are still not finished yet. I really want the Mastering EQ Pack, and Nomad Factory produced versions of those plugins for only $150. I was gonna give them the business, but then I thought I should wait to try out the Chandler/Abbey Road version first... It would at least be nice if someone would write a review comparing the quality of the two different versions. If the difference is negligible, then I would buy the Nomad Factory version.

I believe that each of the packs have always been listed as just over $300 for the AU/VST/LE versions, so maybe you were thinking $600+ for both of the plugin packs?

Did you end up getting the Fairchild compressor from the UAD-1 collection? I wonder how that plug compares to these products as well. Oh so many unanswered questions and demands on our pocketbooks. :?

I'll have to go back and scour previous posts for information found a few months ago. It's hard to forget the initial sticker shock when an all-in price in the four figures prevented an immediate purchase.

Yes-- I did jump on the UAD-1 compressor deal and the Fairchild was at the top of the list of must-haves. Great plugin. Sadly, there were problems with the Chandler/TG plugins where the iLok demo authorization was concerned. An unknown glitch rendered the demos unusable, so I couldn't do a side-by-side comparison.

But if the prices on the EMI-TG-Chandler plugs are truly dropping in price with bundles in the $300 range I'm glad I didn't move too soon.

... and has there ever been any such thing as "enough money"?

Me likes, Mr Frodo. Me likes. :-)

Always happy to have more plugins like this in my collection. Great for providing a little overdrive/saturation to an instrument or vocal that seems too sterile... or a warmer sounding distortion on top of an already distorted guitar. This sounds like it would be useful in helping to recreate that White Album sound... I can hear it on John's vocal, especially.

If you like this plug, be sure to download all the free AU plugins from AirWindows (at the bottom of the page below). There are several in there that I absolutely love and are becoming regulars in my arsenal:

Darn that I'm on the wrong computer right now. Hmm.

I've checked out the link-- and can always access your post from my studio machine in the morning. Am currently on a non-production laptop at the moment.

I did take note that the Kagi plugs were about $50-60 per... not free, but not at all bad, either.

Given the quality of the freebies, it might certainly be worth checking out some of the non-freebies.

Keep in mind that a few of the free plugins exhibit some strange latency behaviors in DP. But they sound so good that they are actually worth the trouble. I completely adore the Flutter plugins (a stereo and mono version are packaged together).

Yep. But not for long. I just finished my last bit of music work. Now I'm winding down... although that's not gonna be easy after reading that thread about copyrights and orphan creative works. :-(

Did you get your e-mail from the Beatles today? The one about the new DVD entitled All Together Now?

Find out more right here: http://thebeatles.com/core/news/

E-mail from the Beatles? Both of them, or....?

No matter-- I got the notice from Mr. Zed and that's as good as law.

Beatles DVD? If I loved Help!, you know I'll have at least two copies of All Together Now.

... and word of advice---- don't get too caught up in the orphan thread. It's not the best way to lose weight, however effective it might be.

New Beatles book announced today by Curvebender Publishing (the same folks that brought you Recording the Beatles).

I got this message in an e-mail:
Curvebender Publishing wrote:Kaleidoscope Eyes: A Day In The Life of Sgt. Pepper
by Henry Grossman

Having purchased our previous book, Recording The Beatles, you are aware of Curvebender's commitment to quality publishing. We approach book-making as an art and strive to create books readers will proudly include in their libraries for years to come.

As a followup to Recording The Beatles, we are pleased to announce the publication of our newest title: Kaleidoscope Eyes: A Day In The Life Of Sgt. Pepper. This release marks Curvebender's entry into the field of limited-edition, hand-signed, museum-quality, collectible books. We have been fortunate enough to uncover one of the richest caches of unseen Beatles photographs ever known. Photographer Henry Grossman was a friend of the Beatles and photographed them many times over the years. His photos of the group in the studio -- taken one evening during the recording of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band -- are simply unparalleled. Only a handful of the more than 250 black and white images he captured that evening have ever been published. In an exclusive partnership with Mr. Grossman, Curvebender proudly presents his entire collection of black and white studio photographs in the form of Kaleidoscope Eyes. It is the first of several upcoming volumes showcasing his remarkable body of work.

Strictly limited to 1,967 hand-numbered books, each copy of Kaleidoscope Eyes is hand-signed by Henry Grossman and accompanied by four prints and a contact sheet reproduction. As a limited-edition title, it carries a notably higher price-tag than Recording The Beatles; however, no expense has been spared in creating a true piece of book-art, from the design and presentation, to the choice of materials and packaging. It will undoubtedly be a one-of-a-kind addition to any Beatles fan's library.
Check it out for yourself at: http://www.curvebender.com/

Although at a hefty pricetag of $495 for the book, I think my money will be better spent on purchasing those SoundToys Native Plugins.

WOW-- Cool book. You are right about the price. Why must everything cost five times or more than my wildest estimate?!!

I saw that there might be a non-deluxe version, but both those books are must-haves.

Great find, Mr Zed! 8)

The price is outrageous. I would love to look through this book, for sure, but there is no way I will buy a first run copy at that price. I love the Beatles, but my investments in music making tools are much more important right now. This would be pure indulgence.

Very clever marketing plan though... :P

For years I have said that 1967 was my favorite year in rock and roll history. And it is only partially because of Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour. There was just some magic happening that year, and I'm really not entirely sure I have ever put my finger on what it is exactly. So many recordings from that era have a really special sound. I don't know if it is because the tube gear was particularly good that year, or if it is because recordings were still being done on 4-track, or if it is because bands were being recorded together rather than the parts being overdubbed separately, or if recording engineers were simply at the height of their artistic expressionism, but that 1967 magic is always something I am trying to recreate... but it always seems to elude me. :?

Interestingly... not a single track from Sgt. Pepper.

While probably most of those songs have some element of that 1967 "magic" sound, these ones are the regulars on my playlist:

I so agree with this, Are you Experienced, Axis, as well as others Pet sounds (66) though.

The years 65-70 so Golden, Zep 1,2 Abbey road Floyd etc etc Not to be repeated it seems (well NOT in digital anyway)

Creativity, some digital stuff and analogue things that go boom. crackle, bits of wood with strings on them that go twang
