Yeah, like I said in an earlier post, 6.02 "poofed" while I was testing out audio plugs and VIs. In that instance, all I was doing was cycling through a couple of presets in Albino, so I'm fairly certain I wasn't doing anything so CPU intensive that DP couldn't reconcile it. In 5.1.3, I'd occasionally get a CPU warning window or even a spinning beachball that went on for longer than normal, but I never noticed a complete "program just ending all by itself" scenario until 6.01, and it apparently hasn't been fixed. Especially with the pre-rendering issues 6 is having, it would probably be a wise move on DP's part to include an Auto-Save function to back up your work (although, that may very well cause it to crash more). I've already lost a bit of work just messing around in 6, and sometimes, this crazy "poof" business happens while I'm in the process of saving, as if the act of saving the file itself is too much for DP, so this should really be looked into a bit.

The only plug I'm having a serious issue with is Korg's MDE-X effects; all the time-based effects, like reverb and delay, are clipping off the end of the notes being played through them, but considering how well everything else works, I have to assume this is a Korg problem, not a DP problem.
Well, is it time base stuff or plugins that produce tails (reverbs, delays) - a lot of reverbs and delay tails get cut-off in DP - since ever ... AU and even MAS ... I am experiencing this all the time (well, at least in DP5.13, DP6, 6.01 and 6.02 - however not all seem to click - Ozone 4 reverb does .... ) - quite annoying - no other software has problems with that ...
I do hardly use the MDE-X (it is even syncrosoft-protect - so, I did not find anything special about it that would justify to go through syncrosoft checking each time it gets loaded ...)

Sorry I wasn't clear about that ... it's just the reverb and delay (what
I'd call "time-based") MDE-X effects that seem to have the clipping problem. It's not just the reverb or delay tails, either, it's actually the end of the note itself, and only on the reverbs and delays, not on their dynamics or distortion plugs. All of my other reverbs, like WaveArts, CSR and PSP Easy Verb, are acting just fine in 6.02, even in pre-render mode, so I have to assume this is probably a Korg problem, not a DP problem. I'm actually not sure this wasn't also happening in 6.01, because I never specifically checked. I know the MDE-X reverbs and delays worked fine in 5.1.3, but in 5.1.3, the MDE-X effects had another problem there in that they was unable to load any of the presets, so they were virtually useless to me. Korg also hasn't updated their stuff since 2007 (when they made their plugs UB), so I can only imagine how buggy these things probably are. Thankfully, the M-1 and WAVESTATION work just fine, which is all I care about, and the MDE-X effects, which I kind of dismissed from the get-go when I installed the Legacy bundle, don't really affect me much one way or the other, I just think it's odd. I may contact Korg about it, but again, seeing as how it's been two years since their last update, I can't imagine they're too concerned about fixing it.
I was a bit confused about your statement regarding Syncrosoft having to check your plugs every time you load them ... do you mean, having to have the USB dongle inserted when you open them? As long as I have the key inserted, both of the VIs and the MDE-X plugs load for me without any hassle. I agree, having to have that Syncrosoft license thing installed is a bit much, though.

I don't know if this is what you're referring to or not, but the tails of reverbs will be cut off abruptly when the soundbite ends. This is true whether the plug-in is inserted on the track or Aux. And it sucks! You either have to merge or bounce that track first or manually put a silent soundbite at the end to extend it.
MOTU plugs don't have this problem. Many plug-ins do. I thought I remember MAS plugs working fine but AU plugs having this trouble.
I was told awhile ago that this is the plug-in developers' problem to fix, but I don't know.

I'm not the one who actually wrote that last bit, though it was in one of my posts, but I felt I had to chime in ...
I think we've had this discussion before, regarding reverb tails (I've never had that problem in 5.1.3 or 6, but I've always bounced to disk or frozen and selected one or two empty measures beyond the end of the soundbites or MIDI tracks when bouncing to two tracks and have not had any reverb cut out on me), but in reference to what was being discussed above, I was actually testing out plugs and VIs in 6.02 to make sure that they worked properly. To facilitate testing audio plugs, I just set up an instance of PolySynth, then inserted the audio plugs under it on the same track in the mixing board, so I wasn't actually playing back soundbites OR MIDI tracks here, I was just playing a VI in real time through an inserted AU effect. All of my AU plugs worked fine, except for Korg's MDE-X reverbs and delays, which actually clipped off the end of the notes (not just the reverb tail, mind you). My other reverbs behaved normally, and the other MDE-X effects, like dynamics or distortion, didn't behave that way. It's almost definitely a glitch with the MDE-X plugs.

It's been a long time since I could record in "Wait for Note" mode and then have the first note recorded at the exact start point location of the wiper. I just installed 6.02 and that is one of the first things that has me jumping up and down with excitement. I don't know about the rest of you, but for the last year or more every time I recorded like this there would always be a gap between when I started to play notes and where the notes got layed down in a track. DP would catch up before the end of the first bar, but would often throw off my timing during recording, and would necessitate manually editing of the first notes after the fact.
But no more!! This is finally fixed.

Hmmmmmmmm. Only a couple of minutes after singing praises, above, DP crashed when I simply tried to change the order of some clippings.

Anyone having any luck using pre-rendering VIs in 6.02? I find I still have to use "run in real time."

I'll drop you a line and let you know![/quote]
That will be extremely helpful for us here A ! We also have some of those same units.(Lizard, Philharmonik) Did you test out Melodyne plug-in?

Sorry if this is a repeat post: did it before, but can't find it.
I have a mixer window with about 30 tracks, so it covers more than one display. If I add a track, the size of the mixer window snaps back to fit on a single display -- it doesn't move to one display, just shrinks to that size. Same thing happens if I rename a track in the mixer. What is most annoying is that it covers up the right most tracks so you can see the tracks you just created or renamed.
I think this didn't happen in 6.01. Anyone seeing the same? A bug?

Just wanted to point out that so far, it seems, MOTU has been listening, and have addressed a LOT of our comments on 6.01, and found time to sneak in other the features we hadn't even imagined.
Cheerz,

P.S. I also have no idea what Stillwell is.
I agree, in that sort of product (DAW and others too...), it's important and can cause more customers/users fidelity.
Cool!

FATAL ERROR!!!?
I just installed 6.02 and when I launched it I got a fatal error pop up.
As it was loading all the plugins the Bias demo bundle with GateX, Squeeze, etc apparently expired
and it gave me the choice of buying or cancel, but for every plugin in that Bias bundle and then crashed.
I tried trashing everything Bias, except for Soundsoap which I've had for a few years and still crashes.
I even tried having the DP6 installer disc in the computer when I launched DP 6.2 and CRASH!
The fatal error pops up after a few plugins get loaded, I click OK and it goes through loading all my plugins and then crashes on me.
Can anyone here please help me?
Thanks in advance,
Robert
