? You told me to do the very thing that I said I'm aware we could do but wasn't inclined to.

Oh well. I guess there's no other way. Here's one where Logic's is ahead. I can key in most of the parameter data on the board.

I wonder how age demographic, and/or how long one has used DP coincides with the opinion of the new look.

I'm old - it sucks.
I have to admit though that I've not actually worked with 6; I've only installed it and poked around a bit.

BTW: Where's the Vote button? I'll buy an 'E'.

I guess I'm finding out how old I am too. This is the first version of DP that's made me reach for my reading glasses AND my sunglasses...

You don't have one? Does anybody? It will only let you vote once. It could be that the poll was disabled in the move over from the old board. I'm not sure.

What? Are they all out in the pub? Get back to your Macs immediately, download this puppy and report back so I can decide whether to spring for it now or wait for 6.02.

Kind regards.

I must've voted and forgot about it (one too many glasses of wine).

Hey, at least you're able to drink wine, Tim. I envy you. Cab Sav, Merlot and blends of the two are hard to beat, IMHO. I also envy all those beer peeps... and spirit drinkers, and cocktail sippers...

Oh well, back to water...

I've spent a few weeks on DP6 now, each day clocking in several hours worth. I'm not liking the GUI any better. I don't find it repulsive per se, but DP5 had such a great look and in contrast with that DP6 is just disgusting. It feels kinda like Vision. Is there no way to go back to DP5's look...that is without going back to DP5?

I hear you, thelonecynic. Rest assured that MOTU is fully aware of our gripes; there's no doubt that they monitor the forum. Given that 6.01 is apparently a little darker already, it's a no-brainer that this is a work in progress, or at the very least something they're willing to tweak over time.

Of course, in the meantime you could try Amplidood's mods; he's up to date with 6.01 now.

Being aware and acting in a meaningful are two very different activities. There is no excuse for some of the bugs in this version of the application. Upgrades are supposed to get better.

I think MOTU is biting off more than they can chew with their high end hardware line and "development" of DP. Development of their other software is at an apparent standstill. Not a good sign, either.

MOTU has always been slow on the software side of things. Just look at the number of versions released compared with PT or Logic for example. I do agree though, that some of the really obvious bugs in this version really should have been caught.

Aww... it's not so bad, Mike. There's no reason to assume development of the VI line is at a standstill; I'll bet it's ongoing. IMHO, the sparsity of releases/updates has no consistent relationship with development rates. Most of the VI line appeared unexpectedly, which tells us something too (and the vintage key one this year, when least expected).

I don't think the hardware line would be too much of a drain of resources, mainly because it's long been in development and progress has been consistent. There's obviously an ample pool of experience to draw on there. I reckon the additional manpower required on the software side of things since around the time MX4 first appeared (marked by the add on the site for programmers which to this day still stands?), has required resources over and above what MOTU had. I doubt anyone in hardware lost his/her job because MOTU wanted to invest more in software. Why jeopardise a steadily-growing business (which the hardware sales would appear to bear out)? Sounds like they're value-adding to me.

Just an alternative angle Magilla, and one that I like to take where MOTU's concerned. I mean, heck, there's enough doom and gloom around these days to last an eternal lifetime.
