This is a good question ... I'm sure I asked it too once .... I have no idea though!dosuna11 wrote:Where are the manuals?
I would quite like to have a gear run down with descriptions etc without having to look it up on the IK website products section ... I have a manual for AT2 LIVE so they do definitely make manuals....

I called IK and left a phone message about manuals. I am now waiting for their response.

Oh good. I want to map controllers to at least the effect in/out switches for the stomp boxes and the bypass switches for the rack effects.dosuna11 wrote:I called IK and left a phone message about manuals. I am now waiting for their response.

BTW the latest word on the street is that the same preset in AT2 and AT2 working inside X-gear will sound slightly different ...... turns out X-gear is not simply a host, but actually contains all the AT products which it uses, rather than your plug versions.
I think the theory is that AT2 code has probably been updated in X-gear and although it now probably sounds better and /or is more responsive to dynamic playing etc (in the way ATJH is) it will of course mean that any old user presets made in AT2 may sound different (possibly worse) in X-gear.
So I guess be aware of this and watch out if you are mixing AT2 (on its own) with X-gear in various projects (or the same project).

Thanks so much to SixStringGeek for intervening on my behalf. It turned out that my emails to Allen at esoundz and his emails to me were bouncing at both ends, so he switched to his personal email to resend the codes.
I have now successfully installed and registered all of the products, including the new X-gear framework, and also my free Amplitude 2 "rebate" 2-for-1.
I'm tempted to do another 2-for-1 with the SVG upgrade, and then grabbing the reverb pack for free. It's not entirely clear to me whether that option is available, as CSR is not listed as one of the allowed freebies at musiciansfriend's rebate listing for the SVG upgrade (and I save $80 or so by buying from them vs. directly from IK Multimedia's website).
I'm guessing Amplitude Metal (or whatever it's to be called) will not be released in time for this 2-for-1 (separate from the Group Buy) promotion ends on 30 April?

Just bought the crossgrade to full-on Ampeg SVT at music123's sale last night ($173 or thereabouts after the discount was applied), and will get my free CSR as soon as it arrivesa and is registered
.
Never thought I'd end up with the effects suite (minus T-Racks) at such a low price of entry. Of course they're hoping we'll all buy the Metal Edition of Amplitude at full price the day it comes out

I opted to go with ARC at the crossgrade price, and then for the free plugin. Overall, not a bad deal considering the price of ARC. If I didn't have so many of the other IK plugins-- and if ARC had been a qualifying group buy item, I would have joined the ranks here.
I just can't decide on CSR or Hendrix. T-Racks looks tempting, too. But maybe it doesn't matter too much because registered users will always have a crossgrade price, and IK will likely have some other specials before long.
Me happy.

Frodo,
Hendrix is well-done but is fairly specific, as you could imagine. I just couldn't resist what that Group buy did for all the other prices. I look at it like Fab Four from EWQL, which I cannot justify at its current price as I'm unlikely to make much use of such sounds even though I appreciate them. Nice concepts though, and many will need a dedicated Henrix or Beatles clone.
I made my decision on CSR after evaluating all of my TC Powercore reverbs and deciding that I would prefer a Plate reverb that is more Lexicon-like, and probably similarly with the Inverse/Gated reverb. If I like the Hall and Room, I might use those in place of Lexicon convolution reverbs in Altiverb. I just wish CSR had also added a Spring Reverb, as good ones are hard to find (outside of buying an analog hardware unit from Demeter).
Perhaps I should look again at ARC's crossgrade price, which I thought was $650 -- beyond my budget for immediate projects at least. The thing about those on-line e-stores is that they no longer publish the end dates of their special sales, and I've been caught unawares several times but just wait for the next one
. They're desperate to clear inventory.

Funny, I just did a recheck at Musician's Fiend, and they list ARC at the exact same price for both the regular and the cross-grade, at roughly $450. Not what I remember from last checking, and also surprised the cross-grade is the same price. But those e-stores goof up constantly these days.

Yes-- I tried the Hendrix demo last year and was very happy. However, I chose to go with the regular Amplitube 2 because it seemed more flexible. Now that I have Amp2 and Ampeg, I'm suddenly interested in Hendrix again.mhschmieder wrote:Frodo,

The one thing that makes Hendrix more flexible than FabFour is that Hendrix benefits from a real guitar being used. A real guitar player would also help rather than someone of my timidity! But even the default patches in Hendrix are nice, imho. Great ballpark settings ready for tweaking. FabFour isn't as flexible-- but I'm not sure it was intended to be since the user is bound by the provided samples to a large degree. I could put Hendrix to work with no problem.
My quandary with CSR is that I know that I like it a lot because the same CSR engine is embedded in Miroslav Philharmonik. I also have Altiverb with lots of add-on IRs and the UAD-1 Plate 140. I want CSR but I can't decide if I want it *more* right now than I want Hendrix. And because of UAD-1, T-Racks is most likely an acquisition for a later date. But I've grown increasingly impressed with IK Multimedia. Their tech support is great, and their stuff has been virtually glitch-free for me.
I got ARC through audiomidi.com for $449 and change. That's $100 less than IK's direct crossgrade price, and it's the same discount at Sweetwater.
A lot of times, the specifics on the deals come in through newsletters to registered users and are not always put up on the main site pages for newcomers.
