I discovered that it was all of RX 3.

RX 2 still works fine, though.
Enough of an issue for me that I will downgrade to DP 8.04 or RX 2 till it is fixed. I just don't know which.
Forget the downgrade. Updating my OS to 10.9 Mavericks fixed the RX 3 issue.
Those who have RX 3 and DP 8.05 but do not wish to update to OS 10.9 may want to file Tech Links. I have closed mine as Resolved.

Yeah! I'll install it this afternoon just for that. I hope - I hope - I hope it helps -----

Just to confirm before I jump, the full size window glitch was a bad install and not a bug?

Did I miss the memo on Mavericks? Is there something that tells us this is a trouble free update from ML for plugins and other audio apps that we might run along side DP? A lot of people seem to be in a hurry to update. Where did "wait for the .1 update" go?
Along the lines of caution, I notice this in the Ars Tech review It goes into details on how Mavericks reduced CPU usage, by consolidating processes into into groups. It does this by delaying processes.
"When coalescing timers, Mavericks may delay events by around 100 milliseconds in order to get them to align with other events. This delay should be imperceptible to the user. "
They go on to point out that this is not an OS level service that applications can use, or not use -- It is imposed on everything running on a Mac. 100 milliseconds might not be much for email, but what does delaying an event by 100 msec do for sample accurate playback?
From the same article, "When App Nap is activated for an application, the maximum rate that any timer is allowed to fire is severely limited, requiring many seconds between events."

When did that become a de facto practice? Just because somebody said it once doesn't mean everyone has to abide by it.

Somebody has to go first. If it doesn't work, I'll be back on 10.8.5 in two mouse clicks... No worries. I expect that CoreAudio and CoreMIDI are not relaying events by 100ms... DP is not exhibiting timing problems here, anyway.

Double-clicking on soundbite in the Tracks overview once again scrolls to that soundbite in the sequence editor

This was widely beta tested and available to anyone signed up as an Apple Developer, including me. I opted out but was in the loop. Besides, I keep an eSATA drive on hand for the express purpose of testing these things.
Once I was convinced - took a day, I went and installed on the three primary Macs around here. I'll let my daughter do what she wants whenever. With three accounts, I like that was free - saved me $40 (the Air was new enough to get it free anyway).
I recommend turning Time Machine off before running the updates. This makes them go faster and makes restoration easier if you wanted. No one will, however.
App Nap is a non-issue. When you do Get Info, there's a check box to enable or disable. Legacy apps appear to be disabled by default. I've not checked the new ones yet.

Updated to 8.05. Just to add to the feedback, at first glance it seems the Omnisphere and Play both are taxing my system far less! This is a life saver right now after having to do a bunch of temp bounces/freezes to get through what I'm working on. Now I've got it all open and it's fine (knock on wood). I'll have to spend some more time before I can relax in confidence though.
One little 'glitch'? When I do an option drag to copy edit on the Quickscribe page, a grey square keeps popping up after the edit. The edit itself still works fine. Also, I didn't see a difference in the track colors/shading? The paste to wiper is going to be great!

I recorded a concert last night at 176.4/24 using the Metric Halo Record Panel and my ULN-8. When I tried to import the 1.5 GB files into DP 8.04, it crashed DP immediately. Upgrading to DP 8.05 fixed this and all the files were imported perfectly.

You're not seeing things. The difference was amazing on my system. Yay rah MOTU.

Just did my first mid-sized mix with 8.05. Everything went as slick as cow poop in an April rain.

This is the "gosh it sure would be nice if DP did these things (and again in some instances)" update.
Nice job MOTU. This is the kind of update that reminds you MOTU cares. OSX 10.9 is kinda like that too. Yesterday was a nice day.
• Improve compatibility with Vienna Symphonic Library (VSL) and Vienna Ensemble Pro (VEP).
YES!!! (I'd like to know specifics. More efficient, or added/fixed features? Seems I can switch apps and MIDI is still being routed without using VE's not working External MIDI?)
• MIDI notes are no longer dropped during MIDI controller overdub recording.
triple YES!!! (I know Shooshie is loving this one, as am I too)
• Improved DP's responsiveness to scroll wheels (on both Apple products and third-party products).
heck YES!!!
• Double-clicking on soundbite in the Tracks overview once again scrolls to that soundbite in the sequence editor.
YES!!! YES!!!
• Added "At Wiper" and "At Original Time" versions of Paste, Merge, and Splice. Refer to the commands window for their default key bindings.
YES!!! (although I didn't read this before opening and was confused of course)
• Performance improvements for video playback on Mac OS X.
Perfect timing for me as I've started new tutorial based YouTube channel
• Option-clicking a window's close button now closes all similar windows (not all windows).
YES!!! (the plugin window clean up feature)
• Command/Ctrl-up/down arrow now zoom in the tracks overview.
• Restored the "None" start-up document option to the Mac version.
• Stability improvements in the Effects Chooser.
• Improved Audio Unit (AU) plug-in support (Omnisphere in particular).

After updating to 8.05 and 10.9 (which I bravely did at the same time) I had to update/reinstall the iLok driver or software. eLicenser was acting up for a second too. Just ran maintenance.
That was it.
