So, in 7, does the audio drop when you change the global loop points or turn it on/ off.
They may have sorted that out in 6 as I'm still on 5.
Thanks.
Any loopers on here? Do I really have to go and get a cake?

Right now I'm on 6.02 in SL and the audio does not drop when I enable/disable looping or when I manually drag the loop points in the tracks overview or the GE. Hope that is what you are looking for. When I get back to DP 7 in a few hrs I'll let you know but I'd be surprised if it has changed for the worse there.
Thanks, Kevorkain. Looks like they sorted it out in 6. Good news!

According to live-human-being-level conversation with MOTU, DP7 is just fine on PPC/10.4.11. Everything works - you just won't see the kind of sizeable performance bounce that the Intel/10.5+ crowd will. But no performance hit either, as often happens in this type of upgrade. Maybe a little quicker or the same. Some code cleanup under the hood benefits all, evidently.

it is not that I doubt or trust what Motu says but I want to hear this directly from actual users who have PPC systems with different system variations.

Bill Murray, genius. Funny, here in Ireland a looper is slang for a nutter, a crazy person but I thought that might be lost on here.
Now a looper being a caddy I did not know!

FWIW, it's working nicely on my PPC system with Leopard. Don't know about Tiger since the jury is out now about MIDI Learn with Stylus RMX. I'm having it work now... but sort of quirkily... I need to spend more time to sort it out. Plus, realistically, that's not a feature that's liable to kill me to live without.

I've just installed DP7 and on first tryout of some DP5 projects (I'd never saved them in DP6), all have opened and played audio, the MIDI tracks worked ~ settings did not have to be reset, ultralite and MIDI stuff just played like they used to / ought to . So far , albeit not that far, this has been the quickest and most trouble free update that I have experienced with DP. It just worked without massaging or wringing of hands. Very encouraging.

Workin' fine with me on my mature, 6 year old G5! I will spring for the next towers Apple makes though. Omnisphere is rather demanding. Running 10.5.8 and so far, grrrroooooooooovvvvy!

Does this DP7 version allow you to use more than 2gig of RAM?
Thanks

that limitation is more OS based,
it is not a limitation of DP,that is why people are excited about Snow Leopard 64 bit,
it gives us more available ram potentially......but you will need a newer Intel based Mac that meets Apples,64 bit SL spec.
this will get most of us PPC holdouts going for newer Intel based Macs sooner rather then later!

But it's never been 2 Gigas... it's been more like 4 (minus whatever DP and OSX use), right?
At least in theory...

Are all Intel Macs 64 bit SL-able or just the most recent models? What's the differential?

from my limited understanding it is Video Card limitations of the original Intel Macs.
