.
Thank you for your explanation, Shoosh.
Mach Five 2 has been number one in my to-buy list for a long time now. It's just that with the current uncertain economy, I REALLY need to be much stricter with my expenses, so I haven't decided to purchase it yet.
I suppose I will try UVIW first. Once I discover its power, and if I feel I need more, then I could spend the money on MachFive2. And a new computer. And another percussion library. And another guitar VI. And another drum library. And... and... and... it never ends

Nando, I have to admit that I really, really love MachFive2.
But in the same breath, I have to admit that I don't have a lot of use for it.
If I were on a desert island with electricity and internet connections, but only one external hard drive, I'd definitely want my studio gear and DP, but if my that one hard drive limited me, I'd keep my Garritan libraries, my Vienna, my Ivory, and Wallander Instruments, and let everything else go. Mach Five is on down the list a way. Still, when I have the time to tinker, MachFive2 is one of my favorite tinker toys.

He seems to know what he's doing, but I don't know Logic, so I don't know if there are other troubleshooting things he could/should be doing to solve that problem, or how thorough he is at maintaining his system. When I watched yesterday, I didn't see comments from people confirming the problem - only people saying that after seeing that video, they're glad they hadn't upgraded.
I've certainly had my share of times where I thought something was wrong with DP or my equipment, only to eventually discover it was really 'operator error.'
(Of course, I've also had a good number of instances where there really was something up with DP, even if MOTU initially denied it. I think it was back in the DP 3 days when I called tech support saying DP was crashing every time I tried to load in a particular WAV file. I got the usual line that it was my system, and I should reinstall my OS. Then I mentioned it to magicd, and he did the logical thing of asking me to send the file (tech support hadn't thought of this). He reproduced the problem, sent the file to the engineers, and it turned out there was a variation to the WAV header that DP wasn't yet coded to recognize...)
I also upped to Logic 9
Yes technically it will run on a PPC Mac, but on the Box it DOES say only on an INtel Mac.
If Mr Brit is running Logic 9 on an unsupported PPC mac, is he not asking for problems?
I tried duplicating a few of his "bugs", but couldn't.

Just wait another month or so when the threads about 10.6 not working right on PPC start to appear!
