NI support, well, not that bad I guess, "did you try and repair permissions"

Well to be fair, those all sound like disk access failure errors - permissions problem or the @ in the disk drive name is freaking some of the code out somehow. I'd consider a different disk drive name without punctuation characters in it and double check the permissions.

michaelohagan912@hotmail.com is the name of my main system HD, I name it my email incase it ever gets lost, maybe the person who finds it contacts me you know, but thats what that is.
Why not put a text file in the top directory or desktop entitled: MY CONTACT INFO.txt - then color it?
This way you can name your HD "Michael" or "Hal" and NI might be happier.
Just a thought.

That's good to hear. I got a queasy feelign when I saw you named your hard drive with your email address. That's a good idea as far as recovering your property perhaps, but just seems like a big red flag as it's so unusual that it might trip up one of the millions of lines of code that are involved.

Glad you're up and running again!

Just remember, the corporation is always right! And when DP 6 came out, there was actually no problem with the GUI, it turned out to be my eyes. I was supposed to be looking at DP through my eyelids, not directly at the screen.
I'll never do that again.

Chuckle, chuckle. They have darkened it progressively through version 6.0, 6.01, and 6.02. Perhaps the next version will address your complaint.

That reminds me: Does anybody else remember how way back when you could just totally hose a Mac if you attempted to name your hard drive ".Sony"? Something with the OS or something and the floppy drive manufacturer... can't remember... but it was supposed to seriously mess you up. I can't see how anybody would name it that, but oh well. I've always been too left brained about naming my hard drives... things like "Internal 250GB" or "Audio Drive" whereas I have some much more creative friends... like one who named his drives Harpo, Groucho, and Chico. Maybe next new system I'll opt for Larry, Curly, and Moe... if my right hemisphere can force my left hemisphere to back down. Fat chance... it's much too artsy.

I had never in my life heard about strange symbols in HD names giving permissions problems,
Live 6,
Peak Pro 5,
DP 6.02,
Sylenth 1
Disco DSP Discovery Mac,
MOTU MX4
Mach 5 V2
Cakewalks Rapture
cakewalk Emu Proteus pack
Automat
Automat 1
all installed just fine with my email as an HD name, why would NI have a problem?
kinda strange everything else worked fine, but all is working well now though.
thanks everyone.

I was just suggesting that sometimes the unanticipated can throw programmers for a loop, and I doubt many would anticipate naming an HD volume with an email address. Fortunately, so long as a period "." and the "@" symbol are valid characters it would probably be harmless as you say. The ".Sony" issue predates "permissions" as it was back in the pre-OSX days and as I recall nasty things could happen if you renamed a HD with that.

Well, being a programmer, it helps to know how programmers (sometimes don't) think.

The @ is often used as a replacement token (a blank to fill in) in bits of ad hoc string processing. That coupled with the messages that were all about failing to write files made me suspicious. It just "smelled" wrong.

I think the $50,000 question now is whether Komplete 6 will include the Scarbee libraries.
