ISSUES!! What issues? DP6 is going to be PERFECT :)

kidding... but only a little :?
I bet it is, I really do. The extra time they took speaks volumes to me.
Not to be a killjoy or anything, but they always take more time and their .0 releases always have a fair share of bugs. This is probably the biggest update since version 3, so there's that much more that can go wrong.

Of course, I would love to be proven wrong. :D

Yes!

the reverb is 5.1 compatible and interleaved AIFF & WAV support!

Awesome!

Aussie users: anyone heard from Major Music? They usually contact ahead of time?
Nope and thank you for I couldn't think of who handled it in Australia.

Been a long while.

DP 6 not listed yet (obviously!)

Actually it was V4

And I agree with Zed. They have gone for optimizing over features IMHO I think this is going to be the best version since 3 for efficiency.

Time as always will smell err tell.

V4 was big, but it didn't include a newly designed interface like V3. A lot had to change under the hood for the V6 interface to happen. VI pre-rendering also seems like a pretty hefty change in the way audio is processed behind the scenes.

I hope so, but I just can't see predicting it one way or another. If I had to guess, I would have to side with history and say DP6 will be solid after a couple of maintenance updates. Either way, I'll be among the first to find out, seeing as I already ordered it and all.

Historically, you are correct and probably right but for once I'm not going to err on the side of caution and go out on a limb and say they she'll be sailing sweet out of the box and they will be some updates but not big fix ones.

Time will time.

I am going for it; I just ordered DP6, what the hell I'll be a bata tester. I have no deadlines to meet.

I said that when the NBA play offs were over DP6 would come out, MOTU boys must be Celtics fans.

Even if it works pretty good breaking it into category would be helpful if just for feature education.

Usually we have a bunch of posts all over the place.
We know the suggested system requirements and I'm sure my '08 machine will be a pain in some way. I just have a feeling about this since my bout with apple and all.

Tiger

Leopard

PPC

Intel
pre 08
Intel 8 core '08

Just a thought anyway as that is how a beta team would do it I think.

esteemed grimepoch,
Probably not a solution to your issue, but I have to go to System Preferences/Sound, and toggle between "internal" and then back to my (digidesign hardware) choice for output device, to get Quicktime Player to play through the digidesign hardware output. Just takes a second and works every time. Toast, funny enough, works without this kludge, but not Safari. But I'm still Tiger, so it's probably a different issue...
PS. Quicktime Player v. 7.4.5 Pro

But is it snappier?

Hmmm...
If it was any snappier it would sound like popcorn popping.

DP 6 looks pretty fricken sweet.

I wonder if it will finally get contextual menus (right click menus)? Been waiting for that for awhile...

Remember it says on the MOTU website that tool tip disabling is only for 'seasoned pro's'. I think that means DP will automatically test your knowledge when you try and uncheck tool tips.... just a few multiple choice questions about DP and the history of MOTU and maybe a 'what's wrong with this routing' picture or something..... as long as you score above a certain mark tool tips get disabled! :)

Not literally though I hope Shooshie! :D I sometimes do get a 'popcorn popping' type of sound when I try and play too many VI's at once on a low buffer setting - and I'll admit right now: I don't like it!

..... I prefer silent snappyness .....

(speaking of performance - did anyone notice a subtle change to one of the QT demos in the new DP6 pages - LOL! )

Hey, at least I include afterthoughts as original post edits...

Geez... these gorillas think they own the ruddy jungle.

Looks like we'll have to get stuck into each other Mike, now that the distraction of the DP6 wait is over and the trolls seem to have eased up a little.
