And for those of you who want to try it out... here is how you can do it for free:
http://www.soundsonline.com/PLAY-Trial- ... PLAYT.html
You can play with full versions of
Fab Four,
Gypsy,
Ministry of Rock, and
Voices of Passion.
It is free... but the only catch is that you have to pay for the shipping, and the demos only function for 2 days each (which is a little short, but should be enough time for you to figure out whether or not you like each product, as long as you don't authorize all of them at the same time).
I have heard stuff from the other collections, and there are definitely some great sounds in each of them.

I saw that offer and didn't know quite what to make of it. On the surface it looks like a nice way to try the whole set.
But I don't know if I'd want to pay for shipping and wait (how long) for it to arrive-- then install all that data (invisible files and all) only to have it expire. Fab Four was not a quick install by any means.
What about a download of the player (demo version) and an LE library? Free and easy.
This is going to take some thought. Hmm.
If the sounds are that good, I'd rather just by them outright, especially while they're on sale now. MOR is of interest. Not sure I need VOP and Gypsy, but I could be sorely mistaken.

I hear ya. I agree. But presumably, if you decide you want the collection, it is already installed and you only need to get the non-expiring iLok registration.

There are some great instruments in the
MOR collection, including a
Gibson J-160 Acoustic, which I am sure you would love. But there are also some really useful acoustic guitars in the
Gypsy collection, as well. I think
Gypsy is brilliant, and probably more useful than
MOR, if you had to pick only one.

Aw now, there ya went and dun it!! Question is, how well does it interface? The sounds may be great, but does it play like a guitar the way Real Guitar does? I was spoiled by RG-- but YOU inspired me to buy actual guitars sooner than later (and I obeyed!).
I'm pondering whether to save money on too many VIs in favor of just buying another guitar.
Now, drums are another matter. There's no way I'm going to buy a real kit. I might get some drum pads and triggers-- but then I'd be looking at BFD or Mixosaurus or similar. Hmm.

Gypsy-- $276.50.
Epiphone EJ-160-E- $499
Gosh. I'm so confused!! MOMMMEEEEE!!!!
Plus, you've got me pondering REX files for the first time-- AND there's the unresolved issue dating back to Jan-Feb of this year about the Terratec Axon interface.
Being a Beatle fan is more expensive than I thought.

Well actually, the
MOR Gibson J-160 only has chord articulations, so it is useful only for creating a strumming track... but it sounds very Beatlesque,
Rubber Soul era, and quite a different flavor than RealGuitar2, not far off the
Blackbird Guitar included in the
Fab Four collection.

I hear you. The VI collections are expensive, and while they are useful tools for inspiration and for final tracks in some instances, having a real acoustic that sounds good would be more ideal.

I have to check those out. I need to know how good they sound. I think I am short changing myself with an acoustic guitar that is not up to par. No matter how hard I try, I can't get my guitar to sound anything like the sound of the Gibson J160 Beatle guitar sound. Sort of in the ballpark, but not really. Maybe I need to use different strings?

Of all the Epiphone versions, everyone I've talked to says that this one is probably the most faithful remake of them all.
I've not played them side-by-side, but I've got to say that the Gibson model didn't feel three times better, although it was very nice!! I do notice some differences between the two, but I gotta say, the intro to "If I Fell" sounded hauntingly familiar when played on both versions. The Ep model is definitely on the menu sooner than later.
Maybe down the road I'll opt for a Gibson model, but my next Beatle guitar will probably be Harrison's Gent or Tennessean.

Thanks Jay. I saw the thread in the OT forum, but I confess that I've had these tracks for some time.
I hear there are all sorts of other files floating around as well. Fascinating stuff!!

I would expect these are software based extractions like the TOUP guys do.

Good link emulatorloo. Boy, would I like to take a listen to some of those album remixes. I don't actually have a 5.1 system... but there has never been a better incentive to get one.

Zed it is so simple -- all you need is:
-- A DVD player (most all of them have Dolby Digital and DTS)
-- An amplifier that can do 5.1
-- 5 speakers and a subwoofer
The last two surround systems I put together were based around refurb ONKYO or DENON receivers. Models under $300.00 @
www.ecost.com
I got ones that have external ins for surround too -- so I can plug my audio card into those and do DP projects in 5.1

One of these days I will get around to it... but not until I have moved, because my current entertainment setup is not in a room that is conducive to setting this up properly. But my next place will have that kind of room as a requirement!
Saw that the Greatful Dead's
American Beauty is also available in 5.1 format. Would love to heat that as well!
Great links Mr. Frodo! Makes those Christmas records even more fun to listen to. Someone did a good job in preparing those. Wish I could download YouTube videos.
Merry Friggin' Christmas everybody!!
