Yes it helps a lot to know what system ect. a person has when you want to help them as well.
Why are so few people posting about how well it works? If it was not working well we would be bombed by posts so it must be fine.

Man, I have to sit down and learn Spaces. I tried once and I didn't get it. It seemed that it took forever to set up and I got frustrated. Would love to see a video on how you do it (hint hint). I would pay for that.

Re: DP7 first impressions
A while back somebody pointed out a disadvantage if you only have system info in signatures: searches don't include signatures, so that if you're trying to find all posts for DP 7 in Tiger, for example, a search won't help, unless that info is also in the body of the post.

Re: DP7 first impressions
A detailed Signature can indeed be a most excellent thing. But sometimes, a thread has nothing to do with your gear, and having an extensive sig seems, somehow, untoward. The solution is as follows:
1. Create a signature listing Hardware, OS version, DP version, Plugin versions.
2. Under "Board Preferences" answer the question "Attach my signature by default?" with a "No",
3. Check the "Attach a signature" box when posting in threads that concern hardware and software issues.
Just don't forget step 3!
PS: Cheers to DP7 and thanks to Shooshie for the reports. I'll be ordering 7 soon, as I'm engaged in a large project and don't have time to upgrade at the moment. As a PPC user who has been pleased with my generally-stable DP6.02, I have modest expectations for DP7. I expect it would be wishful thinking to hope for the breakthroughs our Snow Leo / Intel using friends are getting, but one can always dream.

That's what I'm wondering about too.twistedtom wrote:

When we switched to DP6, we couldn't keep up with people's writings!
Now it seems MOTU didn't release anything...
I couldn't have written it any better myself (as Splinter put it upthread):
I REALLY hope the reason is NUMBER 3Splinter wrote:Okay. One of three things has happened:
1) Everyone who has installed DP7 has had their computers crash beyond measure and they have spent the last 3 days trying to restore their machines and unable to access the internet to give a report;
2) There is absolutely nothing noteworthy to report about DP7 and everyone is pissed MOTU charged another $200 for this upgrade, OR;
3) DP7 is so sublime and deeply enthralling that no one can pull themselves away to give an appropriate report.

Re: DP7 first impressions
Thanks for the great info Shoosh! It's so good to read about all the happy DP7 users! Thanks also to MagicD!
I've got one foot in each boat: Intel and PPC!
My 2 year old 2.16 Ghz MacBook Pro seems to run DP6.02 as fast as my 2.5Ghz PPC G5 Quad in a portable package. Can't wait to see what happens when DP7 arrives.
Considering the resale value, I'm wondering if those of us with "old school" PPC's may do well to just keep 'em for running VI's and such. Besides, in the winter my G5 Quad doubles as a room space heater

Re: DP7 first impressions
I think that the reason we don't see a lot of activity is because so few of us has actually received the DP7 upgrade yet. There will be a lot more activity this week.

So, in 7, does the audio drop when you change the global loop points or turn it on/ off.
They may have sorted that out in 6 as I'm still on 5.
Thanks.
Any loopers on here? Do I really have to go and get a cake?

Re: DP7 first impressions
Right now I'm on 6.02 in SL and the audio does not drop when I enable/disable looping or when I manually drag the loop points in the tracks overview or the GE. Hope that is what you are looking for. When I get back to DP 7 in a few hrs I'll let you know but I'd be surprised if it has changed for the worse there.grouse wrote:grouse wrote:Can I ask a specific question to those who have 7?
