General MIDI is not enough

Post by Clip »

Instead of hosting reason with Dp4 is there anyway to get more MIDI sounds out of the apple software synth then what is listed for example I'm only able to trigger one bass drum and two snare sounds from channel 10 on my MIDI controllor I would like to access multiple sound banks I'm using a radium 61 keyboard. Having access to more general MIDI sounds would be a great thing if its possible if not does anyone have any suggestings on what I should do to get more sounds out of the apple software synth.

Forget about it. There are no "additional" General MIDI sounds in the ASS (Apple Software Synth).

You're better off getting an old hardware MIDI module with General MIDI sounds and "extra" soundbanks - like the Yamaha XG modules. An MU50 or MU100 are dirt cheap on e-Bay these days.

If really want to use apple software synth, you could open a few instances of it in the V-Rack. You name them all different names and you'll be able to have plenty of MIDI channels. Also from what I've understood, It's a DLS device, which would mean that you can put other DLS soundfonts in it. There's a lot of them free on the net
