M5 1.23 crashing DP 5.1

M5 1.23 crashing DP 5.1
Anybody having M5 crash DP 5.1 on load? I've tried reinstalling, reselecting the sound bank folder with it in 5.01, repairing permissions, nothing has worked.
Dude -- you're a god.chrispick wrote:Double-check to make sure your MachFive MAS.bundle and/or MachFive AU.component were updated with your last install. That was my problem. I manually deleted the old ones, then reinstalled M5 1.2.3. Thereafter, everything's worked.
Anyone with this problem -- the old MAS bundle has no discernible version number, but the 1.2.3. version does. Trash the old one manually and re-install 1.2.3.
Thanks, Chris!

Okay.
So, I did a reinstall of M5. It now passes the boot process (skips the AU test instead of crashing it).
In a new EMPTY project, if I open an instance of M5 it appears, but the output goes to Built-In. If I change the output to PCI-424 Analog 1-2, it crashes.
Restart-- create ne EMPTY project.
Bundles show only Built-In as options. I delete Built-In and add new settings for the PCI-424 with two stereo pairs just to start: Analog 1-2, Analog 3-4.
I open an instance of M5-- it DEFAULTS to Built-In as before. I change the output to Analog 1-2-- DP 5.1 crashes.
Off to tar and feather the MAS bundle again for the fourth time...![Embarassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)

Here's what I had to do--- I did a completely manual uninstall of ALL bundles and components, then redo the install of 1.2.3.chrispick wrote:Just to confirm: When you open the MachFive interface in DP, it says it's version 1.2.3, correct?
Wasn't quite as simple as one-two-three, but we're back in business.
Thanks for the hints.

I'd still be downloading it but was able to pull a favour from someone with broadband a couple of days ago...The Hobbit mentor wrote:M-- did you do the 5.1 update?
I've held off, watching you guys, and had already decided to do it tonight after the Nation visit.
Fingers crossed...
Absurd. You don't deserve that, my Hobbit brother.Poor Frodo wrote:Off to tar and feather the MAS bundle again for the fourth time...

I've been there with 38 installs of OS9, PCI-324 and DP, along with 10 000+ forced reboots.
You're not quite there yet, but if you're continually "going through the motions" and repeating much the same steps on each install, my experience tells me there's something else at play here.
I know I'm out of my depth with M5, but the old formula,
Current MOTU + Clean current system = Heaven should at least provide some hope, shouldn't it?
![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)
The pattern would be that the more sublte the changes one makes "each time 'round" in one's troubleshooting, the more likely it is that a simple, crude conflict, setting or hardware failure is to blame.
I know I'm stating the obvious here, but I'd have benefitted many times myself had someone reminded me of the "basics" when my head was deeply immersed in something...
Hobbit; you so don't deserve this, especially as you've helped so many peeps with M5!
I'll say my monkey prayers for ya.
