Have I discovered a huge flaw in DP5?

Pre fill buffers ON / off ??
Just gotta ask...
Do you have "pre-fill file buffers" on ?
If so, turn it off just to try...

Just Got DP5 and the update. He's right. It doesn't work!!!! It used to work fine in DP4.6!!! This is a huge screw up. I am a Sample Library producer/designer for some of the largest sample companies (ie East West, Native Instruments, Ilio, and Apple). This is an essential feature for me and anyone who needs to closely edit multiple regions at once. What a shame. I was really looking forward to using DP5 on this new sample project that I'm working on. Looks like I'm stuck in DP4.6 for a while. What a pity.
BTW "pre fill buffers" doesn't have an effect on the bug at all.

Cool trick.Timeline wrote: You can play the click through the speaker and on the recording track select built in mic which will pick up the click nicely. The trick is you have to unselect play on the recording track or feedback.
Re. the problem: I think this is definitely a bug. I've tried all sorts of stuff and no matter what I do, it works fine in 4.6.1 and screws up in 5.01.
Does MOTU have an area for bug reports on thier web site?

Motu tech support plays dumb me thinks
I brought the issue of the original post on this thread to their attention and they acted like it was news to them.
I was trying to shorten the soundbite for my bass drums by using edge edit.
The only way I could do it was to zoom out to see all the selected bass drums.
When I zoomed in (to get an accurate read) it screwed up the bass drums that were not currently visible on my computer screen.
They all ended up as thin as a toothpick with no bass drum.
This is lame!
They HAVE to fix that on the next update.

Did you get the feeling they took you seriously? Sometimes I think the boneheads in tech support don't pass this info on to the software engineers.blazingrythm wrote:I brought the issue of the original post on this thread to their attention and they acted like it was news to them.
Quite a while back in the days of ADATs, I had a problem with sample accurate transfers. I noticed that the errors were off by an exact multiple of the hardware buffer setting. I think the tech support guy thought I was some sort of kook and didn't believe I really had a problem. I think he asked me to re-install about 5 times. After MANY conversations with him and much raising of voices I finally got to speak with an engineer. The next upgrade to DP included a plugin called buffy. I rest my case.

I've had the same problem and had to just open thte file back in 4.61 to work and then went back to 5 to finish the project. My experience was with edge editing lot sof tracks and soundbites after using Beat Det. o cut drums up. When I tried to drag the l;eft edges of all the soundbites only those in the window were edge edited all others were peled all the way back to mere micro slivers. Right now the fix is to save as a 4.6 file work there and then return to 5.

idiot.
I would be happy if MOTU responded to this problem quickly, but I don't expect them to. I'll be pleasantly surprised if they do. I wish they'd post a bug-fix update just to address this issue, but I have settled into the realization that I may have to live with this problem for as much as another year.

Like a complete moron, I tossed it (manual and all) when we installed DP5 and saw that it was operational.sdfalk wrote: Cant you just reinstall 4.6?
I'm seriously embarrassed to admit this online.
Anyone reading this: don't try this at home. Save all your previous versions somewhere. Consider me a martyr for my own stupidity.

What about bouncing issues?
I thought for sure they'd fix the problem of audio drop outs due to bouncing in 5.01 BUT NO!!!!!!!!!!
I called them and their suggest was to merge ALL of the soundbites and then bounce or to record ALL the tracks to an empty stereo track by assigning each one to the same bus.
What a P.I.T.A.!!!
It's very embarrassing to hype a friend or client on your new project only to send them a song with ANNOYING drop outs.
That means I have to 'proof listen' to the entire song before moving on.
DAMN IT!!!!
I love Digital Performer but this whole Beta testing thing they imposed on us is unfair.
Good thing it (DP5) wasn't a jet fighter or most of us would be a pile of charred remains.

I hope you don't pay your bills using DP. This MUST be just a hobby for you, right? I just can't believe you'd do something like that if you're making a living using DP...beautypill wrote:Like a complete moron, I tossed it (manual and all) when we installed DP5 and saw that it was operational.sdfalk wrote: Cant you just reinstall 4.6?

I noticed that "edge edit copy" was turned off after i'd installed v.5.x, and I had to turn it back on.
This couldn't be the root of any of your bass drum editing problems, top-sample-cd-designer?
