PCIe 424 + dual/quad core G5, works OK??

We are planning on getting a new computer+HD recording system for our studio, and MotU products are on the list.
Does anyone have experience using a dual or quad core Mac G5 with Motu's PCI express interface? How does it perform? Or is it safer to get an older mac and a PCI-x interface?
