828mkII - Strange Behaviour

Post by wyn »

My 828MKII is producing a random, very high pitch dog whistle type sound with sputtering when the mouse is used. Random 'out' channels light up momentarily on the 828 aswell.

This happens only when playing .mov and .avi files thus far. Mpeg, aiff, wav etc. are all fine and thank the stars, DP works fine too.

At first I though it was Quicktime but now I think it's the 828 because when I try a .mov file for example and flip between monitoring systems, the internal sound plays the movie's audio but the 828 refuses and produces a nasty high pitch. I tried downloading the recent firewire drivers, rebooted everything, flipped between firewire ports.
Any help out there? Pretty please?
Thanks

Wynand

Using G5 2.3 DualCore, 1.5Gig, Tiger 10.4.5, DP4.6.1, 828MKII

I had a similar issue when i had my wireless internet card activated on my laptop. when i turned off the wireless, the noises and lights on my 828mkII went away.
