What a piece of crap that second article is.

"After all, Mac OS is built on top of the Unix operating system and it,
like its close relative Linux, has many well-known security problems
that can allow it to be compromised."

I just ran up2date on my Linux boxes, no new security patches I guess I'd better call RedHat and tell them about these well-known security problems.
No new updates for my Mac ether I guess Apple should get a hold of this guy and find out what the problems are.
It makes me wonder if these guys get pay to write this grap.

in this guy's defense, i'm pretty sure he didn't do it. some backdoor virus jammy probably hijacked his pc, wrote the article and posted it as him, sent a zillion porn spam emails, then ran up all us credit cards at the apple store. hence the billion itunes music d/l's.

I agree. This is a good example of using some evidence and excluding other evidence to make a point that you wanted to make-rather than trying to give an unbiased report of facts. Fact is, ANY computer OS has any number of potential security holes that anyone with enough technical knowledge, enough time on their hands, and no outside life to speak of, could exploit and get into. SUN Solaris, OSX, Unix, Linux, Windows...no one is bullet proof, so the statement is a grand example of saying absolutely nothing. I wonder if this guy saw War Games? (Of course I know it was jus a movie!)

actually, there ARE plenty of viruses out there for macs. though, i think just about all of them are only a potential menace if you run ms office...LOTS of macro critters about.

it's amazing how a word processing, spreadsheet, or presentation program can become a security breach...whodathunkit?

I just read an article in the Google news today where they where talking about virus history and theres been 200 hundred written for Mac verses over 200,000 for Windose.
Something I often wonder about is Viruses, a good thing for anti virus companies how simple it would be to create your own business.
