Pros:

Compact, All faders in one neat pkg. Price.

Cons: OSD instead of LCD track name display on Unit (Like the Mackie Control)
Doesnt have a dedicated set f buttons mapped to often used functions in DP like the Mackie Control. You get what you pay for. :)
DP 6.02
Quad 3.0 Ghz, 8.0 GB RAM, 2 - 1TB HD, 5 - 500GB HD's (RAID)
MOTU HD192, 2408mk3, Microlite, UAD-1, UAD-2, Powercore, Lavry Blue AD/DA convertor, LA-610
Euphonix MC Control

29 years in this business and counting.....Loving every minute of it.....

I almost bought one a few months ago - do a search and you will find the thread. Tascam have dropped the price by almost half - the official story being that they over-produced them and the demand wasn't what they expected it to be.

In terms of the stick-o-joy, I got confirmation from Tascam that it will not work in DP - only in Pro Tools. I assume that this has not changed w/DP 5.
Cheers,
BK

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

Those units are difficult to find. None of the major stores have any in stock. I thought I saw one site that said the product was discontinued. TASCAM has no mention of it on their site.

I don't want to start a rumor, but maybe they are working on an MKII version with an LCD strip.

i have no regrets in getting this device..., im just really trying to understand why you cant assign a MIDI controller to the surround sound joystick panner in DP..? if so problems would be solved.. but MOTU has only chosen to allow you to use a usb joystick... MOTU CAN WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO ASSIGN A MIDI CONTROLLER TO THE SURROUND PANNER JOYSTICK IN THE DP'S VIRTUAL MIXING BOARD!!!

I got the impression they were discontinued as well.

I'm skeptical as to whether Tascam's working on a version 2 (do companies pull v.1 gear before shipping v.2?), but I've made two Tascam purchases in the last year -- an FW-1804 interface and an HD-P2 portable recorder - and both are excellent bangs for the buck. The HD-P2 is especially great for the money; it's a really high-functional, easy-to-use piece of gear.

So, I'd like to see Tascam stay in the controller game.

Someone buy mine $725 (I just lowered the price $25)

I got the ProjectMix I/O...

I can't imagine anything better.

The 2400 is great for mixing and having a bunch of faders available. You just have to use the old white tape and marker...

and you know the tape and marker give it a more analogue sound. And then DP sounds warm and snappier!

Just bought a brand new one a couple weeks ago for 725 from Musician's Friend, good luck finding one now. Works great in 4.6. Other than arming automation I love it.

Just for your info, Tascam plans no product to replace the US-2400. That's from the horse's mouth. Stupid. Get 'em while you can.
