This is about controlling Digital Performer with a Mackie HUI...
Can channels on the Mackie HUI be assigned to a DP audio track, or is the HUI only really for controlling MIDI tracks?
I’d like to be able to use the Mackie HUI as a remote controller for DP. If an HUI channel can be assigned to a DP audio channel, then from the HUI I would be able to see remotely if an audio recording level had overloaded.
Thanks for your advice.

You need to do a little more research into control surfaces. Mackie and HUI are two different protocols for control surfaces. Both of these protocols support what you want as long as the control surface has a meter/meters. Your reference to only controlling MIDI tracks is pretty off base. Check out YouTube videos re setting these devices up so you get a better idea what they are.

I use a BCF2000 that emulates the HUI. The default setting has it control the fader on all the channels in the mixer regardless of their purpose, in the order in which they appear in the Mixer window.
