Run Arturia Software Center to update
Heads up on this Arturia update. I had a little bit of a hiccup. First time I ran the Analog Lab (Pro) update, when I tried to then run the standalone Analog Lab app, I got this error message:
analoglaberror.jpg (33.91 KiB) Viewed 1435 times
I then "Reinstall" from the Arturia Software Center, but all it did was uninstall and not begin downloading the package to do the reinstall. I tried going to Arturia's website to get the installer directly, and they were having issues. Eventually, I guess things were fixed and I clicked "Reinstall" and it finally proceeded to "Downloading" again and now all is well and the standalone works fine.

James Steele wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 3:16 pmInteresting! I'll have to try and check it out soon. I bought this one not that long ago. Need to compare it.

That looks cool. More for music than sound effects it looks like. Does it spot to DP?
I don't think it "spots" per se. You can drag and drop to the timeline in DP. Oddly enough, I wanted it mostly to catalog sound effects, but I'm also using it for drum loops, risers, etc. Stuff that I probably will never use.

Right. Drag and drop is how all databases work. The ability to Spot from the app directly to the Wiper position in a track in DP is the headline here. Spotting is how database apps have always worked with ProTools and most other DAWs - it can be a dramatic workflow improvement and time saver when working with sound effects.
As far as I know Explorer is the first and only database app that can Spot to DP. Good on Sound Particles for bringing this basic functionality To DP finally.

Nice! And it's FREE you say? Hmmmm... wonder how they can do that? I will definitely need to check it out!

I think mainly it’s a loss leader for their other products, plus there is an in-app subscription sound effects library option.
Honestly the GUI is a little slow currently, but I asked Sound Particles support about it and they said they were working on it.
New version of AudioSwift out. This is an app that lets you turn your Magic Trackpad into a MIDI controller that can do a number of useful things. The developer is always refining it.
Audio Hijack updated from 4.4.1 to 4.4.2 "CRITICAL UDPATE"
This is described as a critical update, FWIW. Here are the notes about it:
Corrections for Default Settings for VolP apps in the New "Audio Device
Selection" Section of the "Application" Block
This update fixes a critical issue where attempting to capture from a VolP app like Zoom or Skype could result in no audio being recorded. Due to an incorrect migration of existing sessions from Audio Hijack 4.4.0 or earlier, setups where a VolP app was playing to a non-default output would not see any audio.
Audio Hijack now correctly defaults the "Audio Device Selection" option to "Capture audio played to all output devices" for VolP applications. Thanks to Jason Snell for the heads-up on this issue.
Audio Hijack 4.4.2 ls for MacOS 14.4 and Higher
This variant of Audio Hijack supports MacOS 14.4 and higher. On MacOS 11 through 14.3.1, a different variant is automatically used, with no action required on your part.

Curious to find out if it fixes the issues I'm having with DP and Audio Hijack. I setup the IK ARC room correction software in ARC to get around having to turn it off to master things in DP, and recently it's decided to play only out of the right side speaker...
M2 Studio Ultra, RME Babyface FS, Slate Raven Mti2, NI SL88 MKII, Linnstrument, MPC Live II, Launchpad MK3. Hundreds of plug ins.

Boz Digital Big Clipper 2 updated to 2.1.0
Boz really isn't very good about informing users of updates. I just did one of my periodic checks and discovered Big Clipper had been updated from 2.0.9 to 2.1.0. I have no idea what the changes were. Can't find them.
