Record enable in MIDI Editor

Post by SMS »

Hey, Folks-

Really Happy w/ DP lately... super stable for me.

Is there a way to have DP automatically Record Enable the 'active' track in the MIDI editor? Seems logical that you'd want to be playing through to the instrument you're editing. No key command for this, either....

There is a little record enable button on the upper left of the MIDI Editor window. Also, on my system, using the up/down arrows changes which track is record enabled, and the record enabled track is shown as bold lettering in the track list.

Hope that helps a little.

It defaults to Record whenever I add an instrument track. Other than that, have to toggle it manually as far as I know.

Yeah… It seems so unlikely to me that you would want to be recording or patch through to a different track than the one you’re editing it’s difficult for me to understand why this feature isn’t there…. We just need a preference for “record enable follows active track in MIDI editor”. Obviously, being in multi record would be problematic

Very often, I'm looking at a different track while I'm recording so I can see (for example) when to come in.

It is a fair point, but I would justify the current functionality as "you must deliberately choose which track is in record-- because you would not want to unintentionally erase a track."

I would prefer that MOTU add a COMMAND that says "record enable up-front track in MIDI Edit" -- essentially the same as clicking the record enable from the upper left.
