AAF from Resolve to DP? (AAF error code = 80120400)

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to create a workflow to import an AAF into DP 11.21 from a video project in DaVinci Resolve. I have exported the AAF from Resolve using the Pro Tools AAF export option with audio embedded in the AAF.

The resulting AAF imports perfectly fine into Logic Pro, but whenever I try to import it into DP I get the message 'AAF error code = 80120400'. I would much prefer to do the audio editing in DP if possible...

Has anyone had any success transferring a project from Resolve into DP, either via the Pro Tools AAF option or another format? I've had similar issues in the past with AAFs from Premiere Pro, but in that case I have been able to make it work with OMF instead. Unfortunately DaVinci does not have an OMF export option.

I'm trying to avoid a two-layer export (e.g. DaVinci to Logic to DP, or DaVinci to Premiere to DP) if possible and go directly from DaVinci to DP.

There are a number of considerations when importing AAF. Start at page 61 in the DP 11 User guide.

Not being a user of Resolve, I have no idea how many of them apply to the files you are generating.

Digital Performer can import OMF & AAF files
using 16 and 24 bit audio.

Although DP can import and export 32 bit float audio, apparently not as part of AFF or OMF.

Thanks very much for the suggestion. The AAF is indeed set to 24 bit audio and the other settings should all meet the compatibility requirements, but I still get the same error message any time I try to import it. A bit frustrating that Logic would be able to open it just fine and not DP.

DaVinci also offers the possibility of exporting a Final Cut Pro 7 XML, which DP theoretically says it is able to open directly, however that also gives me errors every time, and I've tried multiple options for settings.

So far the only success I've had with any cross-platform imports is with the OMFs from Premiere Pro, which may be what I have to do in the end if no more direct solution comes up.

You certainly want to send this as Tech Link to MOTU and attach a short file so they can look at it.

Have had similar problem exporting AAF from DP....tech support told me it's a known issue and the workaround is to boot DP in Rosetta mode....maybe that will help your import issue as well?

It did for me.

AAF from Logic worked when DP was running under Rosetta. Saved the project file, then restarted in DP Native and all is well. Thanks for the tip!
