Projectmix I/O ??

Post by davel6332 »

Hi everyone. I did a search here for the projectmix I/O and found some matches, and learned a few things. I thought I'd just go ahead and ask anyway.

Who out there is using the projectmix, and how do you like it? Comments in general and for use in general with DP would be much appreciated. Also specifically:

1) How do you like the mic pre's?

2) I've heard that on "some" units the input sensitivity on the line inputs is -10 and not +4 as advertised. Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanx in advance... :D

I've got one...liking it just fine.

The mic pres are relatively quiet and neutral, which is about as good as you can expect for the price point...I've got no problem with the quality.

I've used it with a Behringer ADA8000 on the ADAT port...it synced up just fine. I didn't use an external clock, just hooked ADAT in -> out, out -> in and set the ADA8000 to slave from the PMIO.

Last time I used it with line ins, I was tapping out of a DDA CS3 board from the channel direct outs. Maybe the line ins are -10, maybe they're +4...the DDA's direct outs are sure +4; I didn't have any real problems with headroom, and I was doing a live recording of a classical concert. Maybe it's just because I record in 24-bit and dial the gain way down, "just in case".

This is the first control surface that I've had, and I'll tell you that I'm REALLY happy with it. I need to break some old habits, but I'm not so far into DP that it messes me up too much...I'm coming to the Mac and DP and PMIO from the PC and Vegas with NO control surface other than a Contour Shuttle Pro.
