Hello all. I just stumbled across this forum a couple of days after ordering a new USB 2.0 828MkII (it's scheduled to arrive tomorrow). After poking around this forum and the net, I am having second thoughts based on what seems like an overwhelming preference for Firewire. That said, I'm likely to give it a try and return it if necessary.
I did have a few questions when comparing the two. Given that I am a PC laptop user who has a FW hard drive (Glyph) connected to cardbus FW card (my lappy does not have an internal FW port), is the USB option better because it won't share bandwidth with the hard drive? I assume this will help make up for the slight (or not so slight) practical advantage of FW400 over USB 2.0?
Also, I have heard mixed things about the MOTUs on PC (i.e., compatibility issues with SP2 and many FW chipsets). In light of this, are PC users better off going with the USB 2.0 version? I assume performance and sound quality will be the same, maybe except for times when you are recording a significant number of tracks at once (which I rarely, if ever, do).
Did I make a mistake by ordering the USB version?

Hi!
My personal view and experience after 1 year of 828mkII with Firewire and Windows: Don't go there. The drivers have issues that aren't resolved (http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7794) and the support isn't what you would expect.
