DP 11.1 is out now!
It’s both now I guess. When I want to see the VI, I generally double-click the name of the instrument in the left column of the TO. It’s six of one, half dozen of the other. I guess some are going to like it behaving as an instrument track. Some will like it behaving like a MIDI track.
I think the reason I like the current behavior is I generally don’t just open the ME without a particular section I want to edit already in mind. So I tend to open the ME by double-clicking a block of notes in the TO.

Re: DP 11.1 is out now!
You don't even have to select MIDI data to get the MIDI editor, you can select the first bar regardless of whether4 there's MIDI there or not. So I would have to agree, the new meths is better. Thought to be fair it's sort of reversed from the old method where if you right clicked MIDI data you could select the instrument attacked to it via the contextual menu.James Steele wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 11:34 am It’s both now I guess. Exactly. I guess I wasn’t clear but I knew that. Double clicking anywhere in that track in the TOV will do the trick.Michael Canavan wrote:You don't even have to select MIDI data to get the MIDI editor …

Thanks for the tip there James! Output works fine and everything else seems normal . DP sees my interface , but no audio makes it into DP , not even showing on input monitor and even tried loopback too. I even tested with iMovie to make sure interface gets audio into Mac . It must be some preference I cant find that bumped this off ? I tried deleting some preferences but same issue .
Anyone have any ideas ? Thank you![]()

Oddly, the privacy settings listed only "Digital Performer 11.04" but enabling that worked for DP11.1.

JSmith1234567 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 8:36 amI like this idea, and will suggest taking it a bit further. First, let's make it re-assignable so it could be used for any CC. Also, we may be using a pedal or rotary encoder to send the data so we'd need a visual representation of the input controller's position- how about a 'split' virtual fader that would follow track data on the left and input on the right?dix wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 1:17 pm I would love it if Motu added CC-1 to to the channel-strip window.
I use the channel strip constantly, and one of the things I do is if I need to punch in cc-7 data on a track, I can see on channel-strip where the punch-in level is, move my MIDI fader until it matches and then do the punch and ride the level of cc-7 volume without any jumps.
You can't do this with CC-1 however.
CC-1 has become the de-facto "volume-control" for every VI out there (Spitfire, Vienna, etc.), so it's maddening that you can't see your level like you can with CC-7. None of the hardware moving-fader controllers support this either.
If Motu added it to the channel strip you could easily punch in and out of CC-1, something I do all day.
Another solution would be to have the same options for MIDI CCs (Overwrite, Latch, etc.) as Automation.

You may have to put that in as a feature request.

Re: DP 11.1 is out now!
I opened an old DP Project with the previous VI setup: MIDI tracks routed to Instrument Tracks in a V-Rack. I clicked "yes" when DP 11.1 asked if I wanted to convert to the new Instrument Track format.
But when I pressed "play" I got no sound.
I searched this thread and the internet and the DP User Guide for solutions, but didn't find any.
Can anyone explain why I got no sound, and what can be done to fix it?
The meters in the MIDI tracks are moving, and I can get sound from synth VIs by clicking in their virtual keyboards.
I opened a backed-up version of the file and kept it in the old instrument track format; it played back without issue.
Thanks!

Nope - DP 11.04 is checked in Security and Privacy > Microphone, and recording works in DP 11.1.mikehalloran wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 11:03 amSee if this is it:BobK wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 10:19 am I opened an old DP Project with the previous VI setup: MIDI tracks routed to Instrument Tracks in a V-Rack. But thanks for the suggestion. Interesting that only DP 11.04 appears in that Preference pane, but the setting applies to 11.1 too.

Re: DP 11.1 is out now!
I have been curious as to what would happen if you convert to the new instrument track format, when the instruments are in V-Racks.. since you can't have MIDI in a V-Rack, would it simply do nothing? Or does it convert the V-Rack instruments into instrument tracks? My guess is the former, but I haven't had time to try it myself.

Re: DP 11.1 is out now!
Or does it break the MIDI from the V-Rack VIs, so they don't play?

Re: DP 11.1 is out now!
I encountered this bogey as detailed in the first page of this thread. The only thing that worked for me was to delete the MIDI track and create a new one from scratch. 11.1 has been a bumpy ride for some, smooth sailing for others.BobK wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 10:19 am I opened an old DP Project with the previous VI setup: MIDI tracks routed to Instrument Tracks in a V-Rack. Well I've gotta say that since using the new layout with MIDI data in the instrument track for a few days I've gotta eat my previous words. Now that I've understand how easy it is, I love it and now can't see going back!

Well if the instrument is already in the V-Rack, absolutely nothing happens, the previously instantiated MIDI tracks just do what they did before.Killahurts wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 11:47 am I have been curious as to what would happen if you convert to the new instrument track format, when the instruments are in V-Racks.. since you can't have MIDI in a V-Rack, would it simply do nothing? Being who I am the first thing I tried was to set up a new instrument track, bang out some MIDI on it, then select and import that instrument to a V-Rack, it creates a MIDI track that points to the Instrument now living in a V-Rack. Nice and smooth.
