suddenly no output from 8M - RESOLVED

my 8m has stopped outputting audio all of a sudden, worked perfectly yesterday, same file, same setup, same routing, etc.

I've rebooted the mac and the 8m multiple times, re-instantiated hardware setup in DP, tried multiple different routings in Pro Audio Control and checked my bundles (no change). the file is playing fine, all the mixer meters bouncing, but there's no audio output from the computer to the monitor system. the M8 is on the most current firmware, has been for a while.

I've noticed that in Pro Audio Control nothing is lighting up, regardless of which routing preset i use, and no Analog Out Meters are lighting on the unit itself. Also no audio to the unit's headphone jack despite outputs routed there. seems no audio is getting to PAC or the 8M.

I always hesitate to blame hardware--perhaps i hit a weird keystroke to cause this?

another anomaly. . . i just closed the file normally (did not crash), and the DP icon in the dock now has the yellow triangle/exclamation point indicating crash reporter. . . .

problem solved. . . .somehow the volume in my mac sound preferences got reset to zero. . . .no idea. . .
