Cant install the driver of Motu ultralite mk3 hybrid to my mac
Hello
today i have formatted my mac after a few years and i wanted to reinstall the driver of my Motu, i run mac os 10.15.7 Catalina.
I used to have Catalina before and i could install my motu driver and make the interface work.
but when trying to install the driver i get an error that i need to have macOS 12 or macOS 11 in order to run the driver, it says:
"Motu audio cant be installed on this disk. this package requires at least macOS 11."
i can't get my head around that, any help, please!?!

Try the earlier driver. MOTU has made it difficult to find but not impossible.
From the Downloads page, find your interface. It only shows the current driver, right? Click on the box below the picture that reads VIEW ALL DOWNLOADS. You will now see Version: 83634 for Mac OS10.15 Catalina. That should work for you.

Re: Cant install the driver of Motu ultralite mk3 hybrid to my mac
I upgraded my MBPro to MacOS10.15.7 Catalina (DP10.13) a few months ago, and everything has been fine. However, I haven't had to use my MTP-AV until yesterday and it wouldn't work. I see the flashing lights from my keyboard controller on the interface. I also see the MTP-AV listed under the USB pane of my "About this Mac"/"System Report window, so I know the computer is seeing it. I didn't see a download for OS10.15 (Version: 83634 for Mac OS10.15), so I tried loading the OS10.14 (version 73220) driver and my computer refused to install it. Where can I get the OS10.15 driver for the MTP-AV? I'm assuming that this is my problem...
Thanks!

Go to downloads but select one of the newer interfaces such as MIDI Express XT (USB). Below the picture, click on a box labelled VIEW ALL DOWNLOADS

Re: Cant install the driver of Motu ultralite mk3 hybrid to my mac
Mike-thanks! I did find the driver and installed it. I did set up my MTP-AV and my external controller and modules, but I still can't get it to pass MIDI to the computer to be routed to each module, or to soft synths. Maddening! There were two packages to choose from in the installer: the first is called "Micro Express, Express XT, MTP AV" (that's the one I chose); the second is called "Fastlane, Micro lite, Express 128", which I did not choose. Could that be the problem? Thanks again.

Well, MOTU's Mike Batson responded to my TechLink and basically gave me the same info you did. He wrote:

Hey Robert,
Thanks for connecting with us. To start, the MTPAV is not supported on this macOS version unfortunately - we do not make a driver for this device and this macOS.
You can try the 10.15 driver with these steps below to see if it helps, though I can't guarantee that it will nor will it be stable if it works:
Turn off or unplug your MTPAV
Open a Finder window and go to Applications. Move the Clockworks application to the Trash
Next, go to Macintosh HD > Library > Extensions > and move MOTU MIDI Driver.kext file to the Trash.
Once you've done that, empty the Trash
Restart your computer
Next, go to motu.com/download
In the left menu, choose "MIDI Interfaces". In the right menu, search for MIDI Express XT (this is on purpose).
Click View All Downloads
Scroll all the way down the page and get the MOTU MIDI Installer for Mac v1.6.82544 | Oct 22, 2019
Run the installer
Restart your computer once it completes.
Immediately after restarting, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General tab > and ALLOW the blocked MOTU software to run.
You should be able to power on and plug in your MTPAV and get it recognized.
----------------
The main difference was instructing me to trash the original Clockworks and the MIDI Driver.kext file, then restart. That worked.
Thanks for all your help!
Robert

Re: Cant install the driver of Motu ultralite mk3 hybrid to my mac
Hmmm... wonder if it will work with 10.14 and MTP/AV. I need to figure out which driver I have installed. I don't want to "fix what isn't broken" but I'd like to have the latest working driver if possible. Pretty sure if I have any issues I can just run an older installer and revert that way.
