Traveler problems, please help

Post by helderluis »

Hi, i've just bought a MOTU Traveler and from the first time i tried it, it worked erratic...

Whem i used it for the first time i got the outputs trough 1 and 4 (outs) insted of 1 and 2 like i had selected it in the MOTU software panel...

I though it was some software problem so i updated the software and the Traveler to the last versions available on the MOTU website...

No luck... sometimes i'm able to get it to work, i save the preset, but after powering it down it starts all over again outputting trough outs 1 and 4...
I can't seam to find where is this setup coming comming from...

I've tried renaming the in and outs... i configured trough the console... no luck...

Also when this appens i can't hear anything on the headphones and in some cases i don't have any audio output...

Any ideas?
I'm thinking of returning it and buying a Protools set up...

Thanks,
Helder Luis

You'll need to post more details: firmware version, driver version, the details of your computer, current configuration settings, etc.

MacOS 10.3.9
Traveler Hardware Update version 1.05
MOTU Universal Audio Install- OSX 1.3.0
Connected trough firewire

Using GarageBand and Logic Express.

But the problem manifests itself without software, it's a question of turning on the Traveler.

I'm not using any digital outputs or inputs.

I'm on a PC, so maybe these questions don't make sense for the Mac.

Have you tried using CueMix on the Mac? If so, what are you seeing in CueMix? Are all inputs set at 100% on all channels for all 4 mixes? Which traveler input are you using? Do you see any input activity in CueMix or the LCD, and if so on what channels? Are the outputs mapped correctly in the mix (i.e. the default is Mix1 to 1&2, Mix2 to 3&4, etc.) What do you have connected to them? Are they line-level (-10bd, +4db,etc.)? What input level do you have selected in CueMix? (-10bd, +4db,boost)

Sorry, lot's of questions and no answers. Also, I'm just learning like you are. If you bought it from a local shop you might want to bring it to them and show them your problem.

Hello Guys, I'm having a similar issue with outputs:

I've recently purchased a brand new MOTU Traveler, I've done all the connection right, but, even if I can see input signals on its analog LED meters, output LEDs are definitely off and no audio is audible in all the outputs (with or without firewire connection). There's no mute, levels are up and I've tried with all the output configs.

And I've forgot to mention that even trying with computer connection (iMac Intel Core Duo) with CueMix Console I can't select any output: I can read "output disabled" on its selecting button, and even if I choose any other output from its pop-up menu, it returns always on "output disabled"!

I've already tryied to disinstall and reinstall all the software...

What else can I do?
Thanks for any help!
