It is something from decade of new wave musicbayswater wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 4:16 pm Can anyone identify this? The main line is shown below, and as I recall, the song consists of variations and inversions. Possibly a top 40 song from the 80s? (By OMD?) Or maybe I just made up.
Anyone, someone wants to make use of it, but I thought it best to see what it is first.

Re: What is this song?
For those (like James) who aren't familiar with the abbreviation OMD, it stands for Orchestral Manouevres in the Dark (yes, using the British spelling). Such a mouthful, that most people gave up early on and just went with the initials. A few other bands ended up in that boat as well.
They are probably best known for "We Love You", "So in Love", "If You Leave", "Enola Gay", and "Electricity", in terms of their 1980's output.
Their musical sound was somewhat spartan and subdued, which allowed for the vocals to take on an almost operatic quality. As a result, they kind of have a signature sound that means they don't often get mistaken for other synth-pop bands of the era.
