Maybe what the Tech Support person meant was that "it can't be done without a lot of explanation, and I'm too tired to explain it." I mean, you have to grant that it's not easy being a tech support person. But that's been doable since the beginning. I always had a QuicKeys command for opening the calculator, because I had to use it so often for time shifts, meter changes, compressing velocities, and probably other things I can't think of right now. Most of those things have been improved so that we no longer need the calculator. For example, in time scaling we can use percentages or actual measures/beats/ticks for where we want it to arrive. But they have not improved meter changes from duple to triple or vice-versa.

But then, it's not everyone who needs to know how to do so. I can see how some of these things get shoved to the back burner. This one seems kind of big, though. Glad to see that I'm not the only one who has had the problem or who has come up with the solution! Good going, Kubi!

You could have locked the Markers, too! (In the Marker window.) Then they would have stuck to their absolute time positions and you wouldn't have had to realign them either. :D

Erik, glad you were able to work this out.

I don't know the length of your peice, but "For future reference", it would've taken Sibelius about 2-3 minutes to do it for you....

How would you go about this task in Sibelius. It would've taken me 3 minutes to accomplish in DP as well, but I had about 20 meter changes and I had to change every single one to either 12/8 or 6/8.

I forgot about LOCKED markers, kubi! DUH.

erik, sorry to be a bit late responding. I've done this very thing, but not in a while. but in a nutshell (if memory's correct), I would import the DP MIDI file - with it's 4/4 & 2/4 meters & markers - in to Sib.
Then, at the top of the Sib. score, I would insert a 12/8 time sig. and Sib. would re-bar the entire piece in to 12/8.
Then I would find the spots where 6/8 was needed and "select" those notes and do a "6/8 time sig.".
Sib. will put just that selection in to 6/8 and leave all of the following in 12/8.
Then repeat as necessary.

It's so cool to see that a 10-year old post still has value, and can bring joy to a Unicorn in need. :unicorn: :koolaid:
