My MTP AV USB (2.01) will not work with Windows 7 or 10

I have gotten the latest MOTU drivers for both my Windows 7 Asus Slate and my Windows 10 Surface 3. The MTP ports show up in whatever application I try to use, but no signs of communication from either of these to the MTP. I am totally puzzled, because the MTP works fine on a Mac. I also tried the older 2.5.1 driver without success. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. ..

Anyone using an MTP AV USB with Windows who can suggest what I might be unaware of?
