Apollo Twin mic channel issues

Post by johnnylion »

Hi All,

I have an original version Apollo Twin SOLO running UAD Powered Plugin-Ins v. 9.11.0 11-06-2019 build 65969 (most recent). I’m running on a Mac Mini (late 2012) running OSX 10.14.6. I’m using Digital Performer v.10.11. DP’s Hardware Driver is set to UA Thunderbolt, SR: 44100, Internal clock, BS: 512, WP: High.

I’m having an issue with one of the mic input channels on the Apollo. When I have just the UAD Console app running, the mic channels perform correctly: I can hear each mic normally, and the “Mute” buttons on the Console app effectively mute the inputs. However, as soon as I launch DP and load a project, mic channel 2 begins to misbehave: if the mic channel is muted, I can still hear the mic, however with a maybe 200ms delay. When I unmute the channel, I get both the direct signal and the delayed signal. The other mic channel works fine. No problems.

I’ve checked cables and mics, and all are known-good. I can see no differences in how the two channels are set up in DP or Console. Everything was working just fine with no input issues as recently as last week.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Have you installed anything — not just audio related — since it last worked correctly?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your reply. I’ve installed a few updates for existing apps/utilities including: keyboard maestro, default folder, chronosync, the three Affinity graphic design apps. I haven’t installed anything “all new” however.

Thanks, John

I would reinstall DP. If that doesn't do it, I'd contact MOTU Support be starting with a Tech Link.

Hi Mike,

I actually installed the DP 10.11 update (over 10.1) in the process of trying to figure this out. The issue cropped up in 10.1. I suppose I should start a tech ticket...

Thanks,
John

Hi Mike,

Turns out that there was an aux track that had the Apollo channel 2 input assigned to it. Somehow the assignment got made and worked its way into my default template so it kept cropping up. I just missed noticing it. Problem solved (thanks to Boris over at MOTU-Mac!)

Cheers,
John
