Audio Sends Work Sometimes in DP9.5

Post by Rayzorxbass »

I ran across an odd snag today with an Audio Send and I’m hoping someone may have be able to help me troubleshoot it.
Here’s my setup: Mac OS X Sierra, running DP 9.5, Focusrite 18i20 Scarlett 2nd gen interface. On the Focusrite I have output 7 patched to input 8.

I have a DP project that I have saved incremental copies of over several days, so I have 4 versions. The only changes have been editing or adding audio. On version copy 2, I went back today and set up a send from a guitar track going to the Focusrite output 7, and coming into a second guitar track on Focusrite input 8. This works fine. So I opened version 3 to add the same send setup.

However, when I try to do the same on version copy 3 and 4, I get no audio coming in on the track set to Focusrite input 8. I double checked the input/output connections in Bundles and all looks the same but I’m not getting any audio input. And when I go back and open version copy 2, the audio comes in on Focusrite input 8 just fine.
If anyone has experienced this or has troubleshooting advice, please let me know.

Thanks!

I have experienced random buses and aux sends going silent in DP 9.

Seemed like something happened to the project where the routing/connection just breaks, and never comes back. My workaround was to use the Menu/Load... function to bring the chunks into a fresh project which fixed the glitched audio routing.

If my memory is correct, others have reported similar and used the same process as a workaround.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll give that a try and see if it works. Luckily, this is a new project so there’s not a lot of audio (and time) in it. But it’s good to have a workaround.
Any idea if this is fixed in DP 10?

When I re-think the timing, it was probably DP 8 where that happened. But I think the same advice applies.

I don't know if it was addressed in DP 10. It wasn't an especially wide-spread or widely discussed issue. Probably a rare combination of factors causes something in the project to get corrupted.

DP sure is complex software, and it can be a bit... um... precarious at times.

Just an update; I did a load into a new session and the sends worked. Thanks again for the workaround!

Glad that method still works.
