Missing instruments in 10.11 on Catalina

Post by JZilla »

Hey folks. So I've made the leap and bought a new Mac Pro, which has landed me in Catalina, and so far I'm having a bunch of troubles with it. The most immediate problem is that I've got some instruments, specifically the Spectrasonics ones, which are installed on the machine and have passed the examination in DP, are marked as being passed (and are checked) in the Audio Plugins preferences window, but aren't showing as being available when I go to add an instrument.

Anyone else run into this?

In case anyone else runs into this, it was actually a pretty simple fix, courtesy of Matt at MOTU.
Quit DP. Open any Finder window and click the Go menu. With the menu exposed, hold the Option key and choose the Library item that appears in the list. Scroll down to the Preferences folder and double-double click to open it. Then, move the following files to your desktop:

- com.motu.DigitalPerformer
- com.motu.DigitalPerformer.plist
- com.motu.MOTUAudioSystem

This will cause the program to generate fresh preference files the next time it is launched, so do not be alarmed if you notice these files appearing to replace themselves in Preferences. Please note that this may result in your having to reconfigure certain customized settings you may have altered in the program.
Gotta like the simple solutions. Although I should've saved more of my customizations beforehand, I'd exported my key bindings, but the window sets were lost. Ahh well.

There is a similar issue using iOS 13 where plugging a phone into the Mac trashes access to plugins. Same solution. Thanks for posting they workaround and following thru on the issue.
