Ahh :/ I was hoping to see something when i refreshed motu.com this weekhomebilly wrote:just got back from NAMM no M52 but it's on it's way.

I wonder what the chances are that they will have a universal binary ready at the same time they release it...
Re: mach 5 II still not yet
You really need a very big smilie after that remark.blackcrayon wrote: I wonder what the chances are that they will have a universal binary ready at the same time they release it...
Re: mach 5 II still not yet
I was told by someone very trustworthy (but whose name cannot be told), that the release of MachFive v2 will be universal: MacPPC, MacIntel, Win32Intel.jimlongo wrote:You really need a very big smilie after that remark.blackcrayon wrote: I wonder what the chances are that they will have a universal binary ready at the same time they release it...
I don't think you will wait longer because of MacIntel. I think that building and testing amazing new features is taking more time than the overhead caused by crossplatform developpement.jimlongo wrote:Well that's fantastic, but why make us wait longer to release something that still doesn't have machines or platforms to run on.
Does that mean we can expect v2 by end of year?
Of course I am no wizzard and my contact haven't mentionned any real shipping date, but I feel that they are shooting for much much sooner than the end of the year!

actually i was told that it was ready but was still being tested. whatever that meant........?

On It's way!
It's been on it's way for ever - that information is about as helpful as a chocolate fireguard.
'Soon' is not an answer from MOTU.
The whole testing thing is nuts, we've all been testing the previous version since we got it.
VENT OVER

MachFive 2
It's VAPORWARE folks, don't you get it??? Motu has released about 10 new products without giving MachFive a nod. I keep calling and writing about this and they keep saying, "be patient, Its coming..".
This software has not functioned properly since it's release, and updates have not adressed it's glaring defects as a major software.
Motu Vaporware is getting nowhere with me... I'm buying KONTAKT

Music Tech (or is it Future Music? -- I get them confused as they have similar formats) consistently gives Mach Five its top rating, based on features and usability. Not sure if they factored reliability into the equation.
I have been holding out and may hold out further now that Ethnic Instrument is on its way, which would have been my main reason for buying Mach Five (i.e. to import ethnic instrument sample libraries). The recent release from Kontakt is a big usability improvement (I downloaded the demo a while back), and I now see them as on a bit of an even keel (though Kontakt has the advantage of more partners).
I'm a bit confused by all this frustration and impatience for V2 of Mach Five, as it isn't clear to me whether it's coming from disgruntled current users of Mach Five V1, or fence-sitters like myself who are on the verge of needing to make a decision (not me, as I can wait, but I mean the angry posters here in this thread).

I can't speak for everyone else but to be honest the frustration for some has been that MOTU announced 2.0 a long time ago and promised it as an upgrade for those considering a purchase but were sat on the fence. I don't believe that anyone should buy a product based on what it might do, but on what it does now. However some may have decided to buy it on this basis and may now feel cheated by MOTU.mhschmieder wrote: I'm a bit confused by all this frustration and impatience for V2 of Mach Five, as it isn't clear to me whether it's coming from disgruntled current users of Mach Five V1, or fence-sitters like myself who are on the verge of needing to make a decision (not me, as I can wait, but I mean the angry posters here in this thread).
However the greatest crime MOTU can be accused of is foolishness. who would announce a product and then make loyal users then wait as long as they have? Instead of engendering support this has created unnecessary annoyance and cynicism. I know that many often visit the MOTU site to see what the news is and when you see endless announcements for products which weren't even on the radar when they announced v2.0 then you start to feel a little cheated and wonder if v2.0 is getting bumped by other new ideas.
Add to this the lack of information from MOTU on this; with quotes like 'it's coming' or 'we will tell you' is perceived as contemptuous by some users. A simple post on their site as to progress and the general reasons for the delay would deal with these issues, no one is asking for a full blown report on why line 4500 of code is causing issues.
I don't know who handles PR for MOTU but they need shooting, their handling of this issue has caused un-necessary hassle and annoyance for everyone including MOTU and they may have lost both customers and credibility on this one.
It could be fixed in a moment by issuing a statement on their site, but it would seem that either they are at best misguided and gone for the head in the sand approach or at worst are treating their customers with contempt, the former can be forgiven, but the later is neither forgiven or forgotten by customers.
Remember much of this is about perception, but perception is reality for those that believe it. IMHO

SUGGESTED WEBSITE TEXT ABOUT V2.0...
MOTO wish to apologies for the extensive delay...
The product is now in the XXXX stage of development/testing.
To avoid any further misunderstanding we will be posting a progress report on the site on a monthly basis....
