Forgive me, my ignorance is showing. But does anyone know if unused plugins use system resources. Would it be wise to remove plugins I never use from my plugins folder (on a Mac , OS10.4.3, DP 4.6.1)? If so, is there any way to remove Apple's plugins?
Thanks,
Phil

I don't think they use CPU resources, but they surely take a small amount of RAM since DP has to hold their names (and likely several other attributes) in a data structure/cache so that it can e.g. present a list in the Channel Insert Popups and in the Instrument list in the Create Track menu. But, this would be very minimal overhead, I'd think.
You could determine this empirically by looking at Activity Monitor while DP is running with all the plugins installed, then quit DP, drag all the plugins to the Desktop, start DP, and look at Activity Monitor again.
