Wow, looks like a great deal. Anyone want to discuss the “sound” verses LASS and other libraries? I was pretty impressed with the edit-ability in the demo video at Kirk’s site. Very well made programming and easy to use. The sound seems good to me, but maybe not quite as full bodies as some of LASS’ stuff. I only checked quickly so that is not a definitive opinion.

I've been checking out reviews online but most are years old. And none cover all three packages.
Mostly good reviews. There are always a few knockdowns for who knows what reason.

But if they're good enough, they can be mixed with my other stgs libraries. I've got some of the Vienna libraries. Really good but only level 1, so no string runs. This looks like it might be a really cheap additions for me. Just wanted to get some opinions on the sound. Especially from those who've tried it.

It looks like each of the 86 downloads averages about 675MB each.

Throughout the past several years, I've purchased a few products from Kirk Hunter and like his VI libraries. At least in the past, Kirk Hunter has been very approachable. I've had at least one phone conversation and a couple of email correspondences with him regarding upgrades and updates. I like his products especially his string virtual instruments. They certainly have a place in one's own arsenal of virtual instruments.

Thanks for posting! I haven't downloaded yet, but the Concert Strings 3 videos look great. I didn't realize KH offered auto-divisi strings (or LiveDivisi™ as KH calls it). Previously, I could only find Audio-bro VIs that offered that. ...nothing sounds faker to me in orchestral mockups than when people play sample strings like they would synth pads.

That's what I thought.

BTW, I originally thought you could use them in the free Kontakt player, but on the site it says you need the full version. I put in a query to Kirk to see which one is correct. Wouldn't want to add another $300 plus to the bill. Although it's still a great buy.

This is in fact, the case. You can use Kontakt Player in demo mode, but it will time out after 15 minutes.

I just finished downloading CSL, and while I haven't had the time to stress test it, I am liking what I hear, and not regretting my purchase.

Thanks.

I feel confident the library is good. Now I just have to justify paying the extra for Kontakt.

Messed around with CS3 a bit. It's a great value for sure and has lots of useful features, but it sounds a bit synthy compared to, say, Cinesamples IMO. For example, it sounds like KH's vibrato is modulation-based, not sample-based, and the Sordino sounds like just a filter applied to the regular samples. Glad I got it though. It's a very nice addition to my orchestral arsenal.

Dix. Are there a lot of string runs? Or just the ones shown in the demo videos?

Just the ones in the demo I think. But, per the demo, you can also create your own.
