A voltage regulator is indicated here. A UPS may or may not have one built in, the same goes for power conditioners.
My studio is quite noisy, electrically. I solved it with a combination of a Furman PL8C conditioner to remove the 60Hz line noise and star-quad audio cables that took care of the rest of the line noise, far better than the balanced cables they replaced.
I also tried a Furman P-1800 PF R but that made no difference. It did show that my line voltage is normally 124–128V. Brownout is definitely not my problem. I made some star-quad power cables but those, likewise, made no difference.
I am on the lookout for a good voltage regulator like the Furman P-1800 AR or a UPS/VR combo but not in a hurry. 128V is not too high but can lead to shorter life for components over the long haul.

Hi Mike!
Thank you for your reply!
I will look for a UPS/Voltage Regulator combo!
Theodore.

FYI - The Motu 828mk3 DOES have USB! Sometimes you will get pops and clicks due to buffer setting issues in your DAW.

Hey mdee!mdee wrote:FYI - The Motu 828mk3 DOES have USB! Sometimes you will get pops and clicks due to buffer setting issues in your DAW.
The 828mk3 "HYBRID" of course has both USB and FireWire.
I own the first gen. 828mk3 which is ONLY FireWire.
I will agree with you that sometimes clicks, pops and audio artifacts in general are caused by low buffer size settings.
BUT
I am experiencing loud pops while I don't use my DAW and I am in standalone mode.

Hey guys!
Especially to all of you who experience the same problem with me.
I talked to Brian from MOTU (who is very kind and supportive) and told me that my problem is electricity related and should get a power conditioner!
Theodore.
