There are two modes. The default is pre-gen. It's best to run it there. The individual plugs you can set to real time but real time now is just for graphics. That is different from 9.02 where the run in real time was an advantage. That is what the MOTU tech explained to me because BFD3 was choking. Soon as I took it out of run in real time it has been perfect. So if you are opening old project turn off run in real time unless you need it for some graphic use.Phil O wrote:As far as I can tell this hasn't been changed back. Was there any indication that it would be? I was under the impression that this was the new norm.JSmith1234567 wrote:Could someone who has installed it confirm if the ability to turn off pre-gen is back as an preference/option?
This is the most important thing for me (all these VI's!), and I'll just stick with 9.02 if they have not fixed this.
Thanks!

Do you mean the approach described in the manual did not work? Or were there other reasons?JSmith1234567 wrote:You know that all sounds great in theory, but after a disastrous two days with 9.1, I went back to 9.02.cbergm7210 wrote:Page 842

Re: DP 9.12 out now.
Really both.
The manual does say that, but in practice everything was going haywire.
Crashes, CPU spikes, and mainly instruments behaving like they were in pre-gen when they were not supposed to be, etc.
I always upgrade without thinking about it and ignore all of the internet "gloom and doom" and "upgrading will kill your system!!!" B.S. postings.
I can't think of the last time I had a problem with a MOTU upgrade.
Usually it just makes stuff better and less buggy.

Yes, that is usually my experience also. So, 9.1.2 did not fix the problems that plagued your system, I take it. I hope you get to the bottom of what is causing these issues!JSmith1234567 wrote:Really both.

I was asking about the upgrade and kind of got off on a tangent.
I'll definitely try 9.12 sometime next month when I get a few days!
And hopefully all of the problems will go away!

The hosting company was definitely having some issues last night. I was on the phone with tech support trying to find out what was going on and couldn't get a straight answer. I think they were doing some server maintenance. Seems to be okay now.mhschmieder wrote:I was unable to get on the board last night after an hour of trying, and am too busy at work to read what has been posted since then, but just want to mention that Ivory no longer crashes on my system after this update.

The tech let me know last week 9.1.2 it would be out quick... I thought it might be last Friday. But they put it out Wednesday and everyone at MOTU got out of Dodge. They are doing a 5 day labor day weekend. Some companies are great. MOTU is one of the best...

Re: DP 9.12 out now.
The method of record-enabling MIDI tracks does not work, since an actual recording pass will erase all the MIDI in the tracks. I guess you could set up a dummy MIDI track for the purpose of keeping the VI in realtime, then switch to the track you want to record... no... that doesn't work. You'd have to enable Multi-Record to make that work if you were recording MIDI into another instrument.cbergm7210 wrote:Page 842

Anyway, you can just open the GUI interface for each VI and change the options to realtime if window is open. For a lot of instruments that would become very tedious and time consuming. The windows add CPU overhead, so it may be impractical after a point.
My advice? Join-in and figure out what works and what doesn't, and write tech-links about those things that do not work. They'll eventually get this figured out.

Remember my suggestion? They make a “real time” button? Right next to the MIDI learn button.
