DP 8.07 and El Capitan
Hi all. MOTU informs me that DP 8.07 isn't supported under El Capitan. Is anyone using this combo successfully? I've wanted to update to 10.11 for a while, but didn't because the MOTU drivers were in beta for so long. Now that they're out of beta I asked in a TechLink, and they told me abut the lack of support in this situation.
I'd appreciate any first-hand feedback. Thanks.
Scott

Re: DP 8.07 and El Capitan
Lack of support is just that. No tech support. If you want that in OS 10.11, you must be using DP 9.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work and many here are able to work just fine in DP 8.07 and 10.11. BTW, DP 7.24 also works great even if many 3rd party 32 bit plugins no longer do—as you can guess, that is no longer supported either.
My DP 7 and 8 projects open and play without any issues; if I have to make any adjustments or minor tweaks, I do. My new projects are done in DP 9 where I have no issues but I have tech support if I need it.
There are people having issues w/ 9 and El Cap. Many threads. Find and read them. Certain 3rd party plugins are giving a few people grief.

Yes - I use a MIDI Express 128 and an Ultralite, so I needed to wait for the drivers.
Thanks for the info. I'll probably stay with 10.10.5 until after Labor Day since I've got a ton of gigs booked between now and then. Can't afford to have anything glitchy.

Re: DP 8.07 and El Capitan
Works fine on El Capitain. I just upgraded to 10.11.4 yesterday. (MacBook Pro 2.7, 4 core) DP8 wouldn't work properly (the counter froze) after upgrade. I subsequently upgraded to DP 8.07 and everything works like a charm.

Great news. How do you use DP? I'm 99% MIDI and a bit of audio, live performance.artfarm1 wrote:DP 8.0.7 running great under the latest El Capitan.

Re: DP 8.07 and El Capitan
I did upgrade to el capitan and tried DP 8.07 & 9.02 on it. Both programs were sluggish in performance. I have a mac pro 5,1 system on an ssd drive and ended up going back to mavericks. I've heard that when you do upgrade to el capitan, you should give spotlight time to work through the system. Don't know whether would solve the problem, however.....

Re: DP 8.07 and El Capitan
Sounds like there's a problem somewhere. DP 8 ran faster in Yosemite than Mavericks. El Capitán feels a touch faster, definitely not slower. I'm running it on an iMac.crescentoon55 wrote:I did upgrade to el capitan and tried DP 8.07 & 9.02 on it. Both programs were sluggish in performance.
