Make it so that it won't crash in front of clients. Like several times a day. Unlike my Pro Tools system. Which hasn't crashed not once since the first day I turned it on. Can it really be that hard?

I don't know if this has been covered yet. But I'm getting into using V-rack along with chunks for composing cues, now that I somewhat understand it. How about having automation for the v-rack?

- it would then need its own track for automation data .... maybe it's possible though. Would be nice i guess.

smooth edits

Post by dpauli »

They need to fix the smooth audio edits feature: edge edit only. It simply does not work. Even when selecting edge edit and use adjacent audio to fill...does not work well either. This eats up a lot of time filling the gaps on beat detected edited and quatized drum tracks...grabbing the edge of sound bites to close these gaps.

it may have already been mentioned but...

"A Simple Sampler" that playbacks wav, aiff, and your soundbites. It can record direct from your mix or your external source via aux and utilize the fx that are already available in DP. It doesn't need all the bells & whistles of Mach5 (or other $300+ samplers) but the basics, truncate, cut, past, & loop. 8, 12, & 16 bit. Then you bounce the performance to disk.

(sigh) I miss my e3.

I dunno. Now that they have a program out that covers most of this, I'd hate to see them spend programming resources re-inventing the wheel. Yes, it's a simpler wheel, but it's already a wheel. I'd mostly like to see them hone and refine the user interface and continue making optimizations to the audio engine and little workflow enhancements that add up to a better user experience.

Software is so odd.
I have a seperate Mac set up with a ProTools HD 192 interface that cost a fortune and ProTools locks up at least once a day. My Mac running DP with a 2408 mk3 crashes about once every 6 weeks. Go figure

I am using an external MIDI controller (IBK10 control). DP offers the oportunity to assign the level/pan/send buttons very easily to a hardware knob. But if I want to assign a whole mixer layout to an external device, it lasts a very long time. The only thing I want to do now is saving this ••••ing assignment! Everytime I close a project, the whole assignment gets lost!
This really sucks! Above that I would really enjoy to be able to assign also the "rec/mute/solo" buttons and maybe the "read/write" buttons to an external remote control. And I will be happy forever!

Not that they will implement these, but I could really use:

1) a feature to measure the amount of time between two points (in measures, real time, frames, etc.) This would be very helpful in scoring to picture.

2) a feature to insert blank time that is based (similar to the way SVP usedto do it.)

3) an 'always recording' feature that preserves all takes in the background (limited, of course, by a user preference, perhaps.)

I'd like to see enhancements to the drum editor. A tuplet and/or polyrhytmic note resoloution grid would be a great feature. I would also like to see updated and improved audio plugs such as a convoloution reverb and a warm tube-like preamp. Floating windows like Logic or Photoshop would also be handy. Improvements to notation editing and printing would be great. I would also like to export audio directly to movie quicktime files (ala Logic).

You know I`m not hearing great things about 4.6 stability wise. So I`d like a very stable OS first and foremost. I`m also not crazy about the new window configuration. I turn it off and life is good but its a PITA to be honest. I also like the new EQ so overall I`m happy with DP. The one thing I would like to see in a future upgrade is the ability to re-size the tracks in the Track Overview Window. Its one of the windows I spend lots of time in and it would be cool to make tracks larger when I need to.

Otherwise I`m a happy camper.
