DP8 and OSX 10.11 Timepiece AV problems

Post by simdrum »

I am using DP8 with Mach V-3 and i MIDI timepiece AV. Since upgrading to el Capitan (10.11) the timepiece os not working; it shows up in my audio MIDI setup but does not respond when I play a midid device into it. All other aspects of the program seems to working, I just can't trigger the Mach V or any other midid devices. Can anyone help?

I am in the same boat... It may be a while before this issue is addressed. I always use a spare drive to test out new os updates. Did it with yosemite and stayed with Mavericks. However, I still believe, in the long run that el capitan will deliver with its "under the hood" improvements.

Two sets of beta drivers have been released since 10.11 on the MOTU site. Have you tried the latest?

I don't know if it was fixed by release, but the GM candidate featured an Audio-MIDI Setup utility that was badly screwed up. The new drivers don't help. I had this same problem with the Golden Master and went back to 10.10.5 after reading dozens of reports of AMS disasters.

My experience with MIDI and the final release.

People are experiencing different issues with the new drivers. James's MTP AV shows up but doesn't work as it should. Mine never appears – I've tried direct and through two different hubs. I even resorted to opening the manual (hey, it happens).

MIDI does appear with my 828mkII via FW.

My iMac can now see my Line6 MobileKeys and my MTP AV USB. It doesn't see my e-mu module but that could be my fault.

I may have to … you know… :rtfm: to test it further.

Is it only the MTP AV that has this problem? I have one, but I also have an Express XT and a Micro Express. I plan to hook up one of those today.. doesn't really matter which one, long as it works!

My micro express is the parallel version so that's been useless for years.

I would expect that, if one legacy MOTU USB MIDI device works correctly, they all should as the core chips are the same — as long as they have firmware 2.0.1 chip sets, of course.

My Line6 uses a straight USB connection and now works. I've not tried my ancient Fatar through my MTP AV yet.

Glad to hear this - I have been hanging back from El Capitan because I haven't heard anything about Line 6 interfaces.
I also use both a NanoKontrol 1 and NanoKontrol 2 and have not heard yet if they work properly yet either.

Still some doubt therefore if I should update yet - although things seem to be getting clearer.
