Vienna instrument problem

Hi Folks,

I use Vienna Instruments "Special Edition" woodwinds.

I can close DP(8.05), but the computer hangs on shutdown. It says that the VSL server is still open,
but I can't do anything because of the spinning beachball, and, I don't know what they are talking about.

Please help.

Have you tried quitting DP before closing the VSL server?

I posted another BTD issue with VI's. I have changed my position on BTD. DP8 IS broken where VI's are concerned confirmed. Rendering is the only way.

I'm still confused. I use Vienna Instruments SpecialEdition wood winds as a VI.
No slaves. I also use Kontakt, Spectasonics products, etc.
I close the sequence and quit DP and all is well. When I go to shut down my Mac, it hangs.
There is a message that the VSL server has to be shut down, but since there is a spinning beachball,
I can't do anything. There must be something about Vienna Instruments that I don't understand.

So you keep saying - but posting this over and over doesn't make it so - unless it is. One of the recent DP 8 updates fixed B2D issues for many.

I haven't had a problem except twice (once on my Beige G3 n DP 2 and again on my G5 in DP 5). Both times it turned out to be bad RAM and OWC's warranty fixed me right up. Apparently, B2D is an excellent 'canary in the coal mine' for defective memory as I have found out.

So, have you actually confirmed your B2D issues with MOTU tech support? I have found that they are very up-front when something doesn't work as it is supposed to. What do they say?

If it is a real issue we'd all like to know.

Mike, I have nothing but respect for your opinion. If this is an issue with my DP 8.06 then what can I look for in the system files that possibly did not receive the update? I have done permissions many times and admit to having OS10.9 issues for instance my mail is currently broken and I can't save the signature file changes so maybe it is me. I will keep an open mind that it is for now. What next?
