Old pci 424

Post by stargazer »

Greetings to all

I have an old pci 424 card rev3 2002, 2408mk1 and have run into big problems trying to get the setup working on windows7 64 bit.

The motherboard is an Asus P5KPL.with 4gigs of ram and an nvidia ge210 video card and an intel quad core processor.

I've tried all the drivers available for download and followed the install instructions religiously but the result is the same:

Sometimes the pc will bsod immediately due to motuaw.sys and the only way to get to the desktop is in safe mode or by physically removing the card.At other times the pc will boot but there is no communication with the 2408...ie lights on the unit keep flashing ...on rare occasions the system boots correctly, the 2408 works for a while and then looses communication with the pci card. These scenarios occur no matter what version of driver I install. There are no irq conflicts and the randomness of it all is driving me nuts.

I realise this is all pretty old gear but I only need it for a private studio and would really, really appreciate some help because it seems an awful waste to just trash the lot.

I think I've read all the threads on various fora but have not found a definite solution.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Contact MOTU. They might have a way for you to get into a newer 424 card.

Hi

Thanks but there is no upgrade path to a pci424 express...it's actually cheaper to buy it from some retail store rather than from motu

I've gotten hold of an identical motherboard but this time with winxp sp3 installed...well the card installs fine and the 2408 works fine.
This is as sure indicator that the card and the 2408 coupled with an Asus p5kpl work and there is no electrical incompatibility thus the issue lies with the operating system and/or drivers for win7 64 bit.

So, any input as to how , if ever, this has been resolved would be much appreciated.

Thanks
