Re: OS 10.9.1 Update and DP

Ran un-installer from 7.24 updater, then from CD (7.0). Installed from updater. Repaired permissions. No love. Should I have installed 7.0 first, then the update? I thought the updater was full & complete.

Buses to Aux tracks still don't work, however, the stereo bus I'm using for mixdown is still working.

Now I'm running the plate as an insert on all the tracks that need reverb so I can finish this. Not ideal, but I'm down to the wire.

Had to crawl to the finish line with my project. With no ProVerb and the broken bus/aux, had to be clever and do a few work-arounds, but managed to get the last mix done. Not great, but ok.

Though, there may be revisions, I think I can try installing DP 8.05 to see if some of this broken bussing & lost ProVerb will be fixed.

I might try to repeat the process above, but install 7.0 from CD before running the 7.24 update. (would that make a difference?)

I do have regular Time Machine back-ups, so I suppose I could restore from a pre-10.9.1 date, but I don't quite understand how to bring all new files into the older restored BU.

thought the updater was full & complete.
Really? I posted that it wasn't.

From MOTU.com Downloads: This (7.24) update requires a previous full install and authorization of Digital Performer 7.0-7.23.

One more time - in big print:

If you do not have a 7.24 CD, you ... have to do it in two stages as the 7.24 updater is not a complete install. First uninstall from the 7.24 updater. Second, run uninstall from your original 7.x CD. Now reverse the process. You do not need any of the incremental updaters.

But now we know that this is not just speculation on my part. I've edited to remove the word 'may' Hopefully, anyone else encountering this issue will be helped.

I apologize that I didn't read your posts carefully enough.

It wasn't from you, but from MOTU that I had heard that these updaters were complete installers. And considering that the installer didn't balk at completion, and that it ran exactly as it had before (minus ProVerb), I assumed it was still the 10.9.1 issue.

I will repeat the process as you describe (fully un-installing and then installing from CD, then from the 7.24 updater ((no incremental updates)) ).

Thanks for your help, and sorry to make you retype, embolden, and otherwise waste time repeating your instructions.

Running 10.9.1 on my test drive with 7.24. Stub, I'm not seeing any problems. My first inclination is to troubleshoot by rebuilding bundles. It couldn't hurt?

Actually, in an old thread, it was I who postulated that the 7.24 updater might be a complete install. Someone from MOTU Tech quickly corrected me on this point. I believe that it was His Magicness but it could have been The Lorne.

In any case, try a complete uninstall and reinstall first. It worked for me.

I followed all the steps to properly un-install DP and re-install and repair permissions.

I rebuilt all the bundles and had to re-assign them in all the tracks & aux sends.

Nothing is fixed. Oddly the stereo busses work, but mono busses on the aux sends are not getting to the aux track. ProVerb will not load ANY impulse responses (but since audio isn't getting there, it might be somehow not active).

So the issues are the same after re-installing.

I assume that 10.9.1 was the cause, because of the timing of it all breaking. But I suppose that the OS update and subsequent problems could have damaged my project.

I'll try starting a new project and see what works.

Ok. Opened a new project and things are working. So perhaps my project was damaged in some way such that caused some of the bus routing not to work properly.

As an aside, I believe ProVerb's inability to load an IR came it not having a properly working input. Though, by all appearances they were working (non-italicized).

I'm open to the possibility that it is user error somewhere, but if I've done something to break the bus system, I don't know what I did.

I should note that I have the latest Kontakt installed and Numerology 3 (both of which have their own bus lists).

I'm not sure what would be the best way to restore my project. I might try importing all the chunks into a new project.

For those registered owning DP7 MOTU, is very reasonable about getting a new full install disk if you call them. I lost the one they sent me last year and yesterday ordered another. Major Holiday thanks to MOTU for this coolness! 8)

The DP 8.05 says "DP805Full.pkg" so I assume that means I don't need to install from the CD (DVD?) first. And I'll only need the disc for authorizing?

Doesn't the new version allow you to authorize online? I don't recall.

Yes, DP 8 updates are full installs. There is no uninstaller - the new version overwrites the old.

You authorize online - your info must match what MOTU has on file including your name, email address and serial number (using a different version of one's name has screwed up more than one authorization).

There is also a way to authorize offline also but it's a bit convoluted. In any case, it does not involve the DVD.

I installed DP 8.05 and opened the problematic project. It must be something was either broken in the project, or perhaps there is a corrupt prefs issue. Would the uninstall remove those prefs files?

I've got tracks sending audio to bus 6, and bus 6 is the input for an aux track, but the track receives no audio, and ProVerb won't load an impulse because it thinks it doesn't have an input yet.

I tried remaking the bundles, but that didn't work.
