The new track color control systems seems to give me less useful variations of color and cause even more mismatch between an assigned color and what you see on the track. I don't remember it being as narrow before.

I think the basic procedure here is to do a snapshot on all tracks, all parms, before you start adjusting automation values. That sets an initial value at the start of the track, and when you go to the automation lanes and click, you can see what is happening.
Yeah I've heard about doing that in the past...it kinda reminds me of how a PC works - you have to do this and do that first to do something. Yet, when working in say Pro Tools, you select the Volume control and click on the track it defaults to where the fader it at that time. Simple. One click instead some convoluted way of getting the job done fast.

I suppose when you do this procedure 40 or 50 times a day as I do it would be nice if it was more simplistic.

A quick way of getting a line of any parameter where there's none, is to simply enable the Record Automation button for the needed tracks, play the sequence and click on the faders (or any other parameter). This will put a vector in the tracks that you click reflecting the current value.

The snapshot command mentioned up-thread is the quickest way to set automation for initial values when there are lots of tracks. It literarily takes no longer than 2 seconds to do it... And you have at least 3 places to do this, each remembering your last input (3 different default values already entered for you by you, depending where you invoke the window from) . If you do this with shortcuts, it will only take 500 ms of your time.

A quick way to change an EXISTING vector for a time range, is to use the reshape tool in "flat mode". Press letter r and drag over an existing vector (any parameter). Voilá... Instant change.
And this can be done to one or more tracks at the same time!

Its a single click for all tracks if you have automation settings the right way. Not one per track.

I wish I could use the shortcut command to send tracks within a folder to the bottom of the tracks list, not just to the bottom of that folder. Or just a better way to move no longer needed tracks out of a folder without having to drag one at a time or creating a new track folder in an attempt to just to quicken up the process.

AND---

I would like to be able to see an overview diagram of all sends and outputs from tracks and which aux's they are going to. Also, when I name Auxes, then I risk using the same bus again for something else so I stopped doing that. I'm probably just unorganized but I can't hold all that in my head and am constantly rechecking when I go back to a part I haven't worked on for awhile.

AND--- (3 were asked for)

I'll have to come back later, I can't think of one now.

That's been on my wish list since day 1. Not just sends and outputs though, but a block diagram of the entire signal from source to monitor. And one that includes the Cuemix signal path if you're using it. I had one for my mixer on the wall, and referred to it all the time when setting up.

Hi Guys!

I wonder if the Zoom in still makes DP8 Lag... I use 7.24, but the slow zoom in and zoom out just bugs me every time I have a lot of tracks in my project.

Does this have to do with my Graphic Card? With protools I just zoom in and out and there is no lag at all on the same system... I don't get it.

Thanks

Quite possible. I had a bit of lag on DP 7 with my G5. With the iMac and DP 8, no lag at all.

I´d like each tracks to have its number, like they are shown in Logic and Studio One. It makes it so much easier to locate selected TO/ or SE tracks in the Mixer Window when working in multiple screens. It speeds up the workflow dramatically.

I´d also like to being able to select tracks in the TO/SE window and the Mixer Window simultaneously. So that the Mixer window track will be highlighted when clicking/selecting track(s) in the TO/SE and vice versa. Again when working in multiple screens with the Mixer Window on a separate screen. This would be great for selecting and viewing temporary track groups and other functions.
I really do miss this feature.

Wow. I would LOVE to have that as well. See, RG? Now I really want it! 8)

Another simple feature in Logic I'd like to see in DP: when you drag a sound file in the Logic arrange window, a shadow image of the waveform appears and moves with the mouse. Probably, it is the waveform itself that becomes the mouse cursor. This means you can drag and drop the waveform with great precision. In DP, the waveform in a Soundbite disappears when it is being dragged in the Sequence Editor, so you have to approximate the intended position and then adjust in subsequent moves, or first establish a sync point in the Soundbite.

I would like an "i/o" plug in like Logic's, that allow us to use hardware inserts.
Or like PT's hardware insert with built in latency comp.
That could be awesome! I've been waiting this feature for years.

I remember an Sound on sound from 2005 where they said: "hardware inserts on DP is not implemented yet, expect this feature from motu soon". :banghead:
